Hope Renewed Counseling
Hope Renewed Counseling is a practice looking to provide counseling services from a Christian perspective to The Cedar Valley area.
I am so in love with this video on empathy from Brené Brown. I think that we can do so much better in this area. I wonder if our discomfort with other people’s emotions get in the way of us being able to connect with others who are in pain. So instead of connecting, we try to rescue them. We do this by being an “at least friend” or a “silver lining'' friend. We do this by being friends who try to hurry and change the subject if something emotional and painful comes up or simply avoid the subject altogether. This leaves the ones in pain feeling alone, unseen, and maybe even ashamed of their feelings.
I don’t want to be this type of friend, this type of counselor, this type of person. I want to be someone who allows space for those people in my life to talk, to grieve, to cry, to yell and scream. I want to validate them in their feelings instead of ignoring them or trying to make it better. I want them to feel heard, seen, and understood in their feelings.
Let’s try to do better!

I am loving all the information and research Brene Brown has on shame. Here is a powerful quote from her that I hope you find as helpful as I do.
Shout out to my husband, Matt Gronewold of Gronewold Family Chiropractic who posted an article that acknowledges the relationship between physical and mental health. This is such a good read!
Moderate Exercise Is Effective Medicine For Treating Major Depression, Suggests New Research Exercise isn't just a good idea when it comes to mental health, it may be the single most effective approach we can try for curbing depression and anxiety. Findings from two new studies further support the argument for getting moving.
I love this quote from one of my favorite mental health professionals I have studied. My goal in providing counseling to people is that they can gain insight into how their past has effected them, so they can ultimately break free from it and become the people they were always meant to be.
Gronewold Family Chiropractic and Hope Renewed Counseling are expanding on our mission statement of helping "...all who enter this building reach their full potential by providing emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical healing" to more people in our community. To do this, we need your help! We are starting a coat drive for those in Pella and the surrounding communities. Feel free to drop off any coats you wish to donate at our office during business hours. All coats will be donated to The Well Resource Center.
Here is an up close look of the poster Sara Westerkamp designed for us. We absolutely love it, and it serves as such a great reminder of what our mission is!
April 1st marked 1 year of my husband, Matt Gronewold (Gronewold Family Chiropractic), and me being in a building together, so we felt like it was time to share our story. Enjoy!
It is with very heavy hearts that Matt (Gronewold Family Chiropractic) and I announce that the massage therapist from our building, Jasmine Linder (The Maya Massage), passed away tragically this past weekend. She was somebody who was so kind and quickly blended well with Matt and me. We were excited to have someone come on our team that really cared about the people she was serving and worked hard to fulfill the mission of bringing healing to those in our community. She will be greatly missed. Please join us in praying for the friends and family of all who were involved in the accident.
Here is a great, short article about healthy living from a Christian perspective. There is a movement toward healthy living in today's culture, but many find themselves frustrated with the impossible expectations that are put on them. This could be because our goal of becoming this idea of "healthy" (whatever that means) becomes our source of identity, and therefore our idol. Our happiness is built around it. Here are some suggestions on how we can move out of that mindset.
Why we SUCK at Healthy Living & How To Change If you’re reading this, you’re either in a place of frustration with your health or you’re looking for a reason to be offended today. I hope it’s not the latter, but if it i…

I just recently heard a sermon on anger, and thought this was very fitting.
I feel so blessed to be trained in EMDR therapy. This article does a great job of explaining how EMDR therapy may be a good alternative for those who have not found talk therapy to be beneficial.
When Talk Therapy Is Not Working, Consider EMDR Therapy When the memory of your trauma becomes a part of you, you may need more than talk therapy.
We are interested in having a massage therapist come on as an independent contractor and renting a room that we have available in our building. They would be in charge of their own patient records as well as making their own schedule. If you or anyone you know would be interested please give us a call at 641-780-4192 to inquire more information.
Our sign is up! Thank you so much Sadler Sign and Design. This helps make Matt Gronewold (Gronewold Family Chiropractic) and my dream of having a building that would provide spiritual, emotional, and physical healing to the community feel more like a reality. Our hearts are full of excitement to see what this new building has in store for us and, more importantly, all of you!
