Today is National Swimming Pool Day--yes, there's a National Day for that! 👙🩲🩳🩱🩴🕶👒💦🏊‍♀️🤿🤽
To celebrate and to stir up happy memories, here's a photo of the Cedar Falls Municipal Pool.
And here is some info about that pool from the Cedar Falls Historical Society 2019 exhibit, "Parks and Recreation: Cedar Falls at Play," curated by Julie Huffman-klinkowitz:
"In 1937, the dam on the Cedar River needed repair and it was unsafe to use the beach at Island Park. A municipal pool was built east of the Cedar Falls Utilities where the coal pile was formerly located. The intention was that it would be used only until the dam was repaired. The pool quickly became the most popular place in town. Warm water from utility operations was fed into a large pool outfitted with slides, diving boards, and floating platforms. The old swimming hole was not replaced until Ray Edwards Municipal Pool opened in 1961. The Falls Aquatic Center, the newest swimming pool in Cedar Falls, opened in 2006."

There is no morning water walking and The Falls will NOT be opening at Noon. Please check back for updates in case we may open later in the day.

July 4-The Falls will be closing early and will not be having Thurs evening water walking.

Evening lessons at Holmes Pool will not be held tonight due to a mechanical issue.

The Falls will be opening at 2:00pm today rather than Noon.

Tuesday, June 4
Due to weather, late night lap swim and water walking have been canceled for tonight.

Today-Sunday, June 2 The zero depth pool at The Falls will not be available for the time being, we are having mechanical issues. We apologize for the inconvenience but we are still open!

The Falls $10 Holmes: $5
SEASON PASSES Adult 18 & Over
Resident $40 Non-Resident $60
*A season pass or paying the daily rate will allow access to the lap lane at The Falls during these times and to water walking times.
SUMMER LAP SWIM/WATER WALKING PASS
Resident $40 Non-Resident $60
*The Lap Swim/Water Walking Pass
Will allow entry to lap swims and water walking at The Falls Aquatic Center and Holmes Jr High Pool.
It will not allow individuals to utilize the lap lane during open recreational swimming at The Falls Aquatic Center.
