✨ That's a wrap on a great week at River Hills! 🎉 Take a look around at the amazing things happening in Rooms 13, 4, 18, 10, and throughout the entire school! Plus, check out our school-wide Disc Golf ⛳️ & Obstacle Course 🏃‍♂️—such a fun way to end the week! ✨

Exciting Day in Rooms 10 and 11! They had a fun time exploring the five senses! 🎉 They got hands-on with a light table, played with water beads, and felt the texture of sand. 🎨💧🏖️ The fun didn't stop there—they also listened to various animal sounds and guessed which animals made them. Lastly, they sampled different smells and tried to identify each one. It was a day full of discovery and learning!!

Rooms 3 and 14 had an incredible week exploring all types of weather! 🌈☁️ They kicked things off during theme with learning about different weather types, understanding the difference between regular and severe weather, and did a fun weather sorting activity. For art, they got creative with clouds! They learned about different cloud types, ventured outside to spot them, and painted their own clouds using puffy paint. 🎨☁️ Lastly, they ended the week with turning into scientists and had a blast exploring a variety of experiments with rain, wind, and clouds. 🌧️💨

✨Room 11✨ had a blast practicing the core word "NOT" with SLPA Carly.

Room 16 is sailing away on an adventure! ⛵️ We’ve been reading The Swiss Family Robinson and learning all about different kinds of boats. We even tried our hand at sailing a miniature boat using a pump to simulate wind. Who knew science could be so much fun?

Our students in Room 1 are diving deep into Anne of Green Gables using the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM)! This strategy helps them understand sentence structure and story content at the same time. They've been independently identifying details in photos and applying their new skills to the book. 📚

🍪✨ Room 3 and 14 had an extra "sweet" Readtopia adventure on the first day of school! 📚 They dove into "The Smart Cookie" and had a blast with some fun literacy activities. From reading the story and answering questions to sharing who and what makes them feel smart, everyone was engaged and smiling! They even colored their very own smart cookie and topped it all off with a delicious cookie treat! 🍪📖

Our students are excited to use their hard-earned River Hills dollars (from completing vocational tasks) to shop for items. Learning to manage money is an important life skill, and we appreciate Target and Fleet Farm's support in making this hands-on experience possible! 🥳

🌟Exciting news! Room 9 is featured on the cover of Cedar Falls 'Currents' magazine! 📸 Look closely, and you'll see all our amazing students using AAC on their Panthers on Parade field trip! 🐾👏

Weeds, Compost, Mulch, Oh My!

A huge shoutout to all the incredible volunteers from Masters Gardeners and Green Iowa who helped us tackle the flower beds around River Hills! Also a big thank you to Brian at City of Cedar Falls for the mulch and compost.

They braved the weeds, embraced the compost, and mulched like champions! Thanks to their hard work, our flower beds are looking fresh and ready to bloom!

Before the school year ended rooms 22 and 19 completed an extension activity for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Para Niki made cool underwater flashlights for each of the students.

We honored our amazing retirees - Deb, Becky, Joyce, Ginny, and Steve - on Friday with a personalized retirement celebration at River Hills! 🎉👏

Congratulations on your incredible careers, dedicated service to River Hills, and the exciting adventures that lie ahead! 🌟🎈 Your hard work and commitment have made a lasting impact. Enjoy every moment of your well-deserved retirement! 🎉🎊❤️

Even though we found all the TC statues, some students got to have a special last day of school field trip to see some of the TCs again.

Rooms 9 & 11 spent the last day of school enjoying a variety of sensory activities together. What a great year it has been with friends!
