It’s been about 6 months since we last colored Miss Ryan’s hair. Not only was she due for a refresh for her to enjoy all summer long but this girl is a bridesmaids in 2 weddings coming up soon! I love this beautiful dimensional lived in blonde color we created for her. ❤️

I’m absolutely loving how my salon space is feeling. Earthy, warm & inviting is the ultimate goal here and I feel like I’ve nailed it! I can’t thank my friend Rayanna enough for helping me to make this mountain mural come to life! Come get your hair done and see it in person for the full experience! The space isn’t quite complete yet but feels more and more like what I was envisioning every day.

Makenna went to the darker & cooler side today and I’m loving it on her! It really makes her blue eyes pop and the subtle highlights help to give her hair dimension. 🩵

I made Sahar a Red/ Copper goddess today using Oligo Calura color! This color is vibrant, shiny and totally ammonia free! Her previous highlights gave her a great starting canvas to get a super multidimensional and bright red color! I finished off this color by giving her a shaggy haircut with tons of layers. ❤️‍🔥

Miss Evelyn was just due for a good refresh. She’s really been enjoying a more rooted look and wasn’t quite ready to bring any of the blonde back up. We toned her previously lightened pieces and gave her a good trim and finished it by curling with a Bioionic 1.25 inch long barrel curling iron!

My client Caryn has the most beautiful long hair! Today we brought the brightness back up with balayaged highlights and gave her a much needed trim so that her hair has life again! We used Oribe dry texture spray to fluff out her hair and create fullness. ⭐️

I love a good pink hair moment 💕

We decided to do a pastel pink on Michera’s hair to combat some old green fashion color that was lingering and leaving a mucky looking color on her ends. We started and ended the entire process with k18 for some extra healthy hair. I also gave her a nice haircut with layers and some soft curls to finish everything off! Love love love the results! Makes me miss my pink hair… 🫣

My cute client Isabella got a nice refresh on her balayaged highlights and a good couple of inches trimmed off the ends to get ready for the holiday season! Have you booked your holiday appointments yet? Christmas is only 5 weeks away!

What does a toner do? 👱🏻‍♀️

Many clients want to know why we use toner on blonde hair and what exactly it does. The way I like to explain it is that when lifting hair with lightener, lightener doesn’t know what color that you want your hair to be. Its job is to essentially “peel back” layers of color until it lifts to the correct lightness. Toner is what tells that hair what color to be. Toner can be used to achieve a light shift in the color or completely change the way that color looks. It can remove unwanted warm tones or add back in warmth depending on what the desired end result is. It also aids in closing the cuticle leaving the lightened hair in a healthier state. Generally toner only affects the hair that is lighter than it and won’t affect the darker color at your root or between your highlights. It’s also a really great way to refresh your color if you don’t quite need a full color or another highlight yet.

“What’s the difference between highlights and lowlights?” 👩🏻👩🏻‍🦰👱🏻‍♀️

I actually hear this question a lot so I feel like it’s a good one to answer.

Highlights are going to be anything lighter than the base color of your hair. Say your hair is dark brown, then a highlight will basically be anything lighter than that color.

Lowlights are going to be anything darker than the base color of your hair. So if your base color is blonde, most colors will be considered a lowlight, but if your base color is a dark brown, then really only black hair color would be considered a lowlight since it is darker than your base color.

“Why does my blonde get brassy between highlight appointments?” 💁🏼‍♀️

Several things could be leading to your blonde getting brassy between highlight/ lightening appointments:

💜 Hard water/ mineral build up on the hair
💜 Overwashing/ washing in hot water frequently
💜 Shampoos that are not color safe
💜 Swimming in lakes/ oceans/ pools
💜 Prolonged time in the sun
💜 Tanning (even spray tan could transfer onto your blonde hair if it isn’t protected)

The best way to combat these things are to wash less frequently in cooler water, use a good quality purple shampoo that you let sit on your head for several minutes before lathering, use a purple masque, put conditioner in your hair before swimming or try not to get your hair wet, wear a hat when you know you will be in the sun all day, and depending on how blonde your ends are, a wet balayage is always a good option when refreshing your highlights in order to pull back on brassiness or dullness on your blonde ends.

Should I wash my hair everyday? 💆🏼‍♀️

I think there are still a lot of people who wash their hair everyday. I don’t think washing your hair this often is the best idea for several reasons…

- Colorado is dry so washing everyday is just drying everything out even more.
- Your scalp might overproduce oils if it’s washed too frequently causing it to look and feel oily faster.
- It’s stripping your color and toner out of your hair (especially if you’re washing in hot water.)

Instead of washing everyday, I would try every 3-4 days. If your hair is fine and very oily naturally, every other day is totally okay as well! The first time you do this it’s going to feel “gross” or “strange” but trust me on this. Your scalp & hair will thank you!

Blended roots soft blonde color 💕💕 basically a reverse of my last client, with with gal, we have been doing an all over lightener for quite a while now and she has decided to go for a more lived in, highlighted look! This is our second session of transitioning from a lightener retouch to a highlight and root tap.

Healthy happy platinum blonde hair 🙌🏻✨ This client gets regular trims every 8 weeks, and let me tell you, it works! Her hair grows so fast and looks healthy the whole way there! We have balayaged and highlighted her hair in the past and this time did an all over platinum with a little shadow root!
