I like to think that my clients are loyal because I’ve got good hands and a charming wit…
But it’s these pillows.
What do all shoulders have in common?
They slouch forward on the massage table!
And what do (almost) all clients complain about? Posture! Tight shoulders! Neck pain!
If you aren’t propping prone shoulders into passive retraction… you’re missing out. Well, your client is, really.
Use pillows. Use hand towels. Use SOMETHING. Prop those shoulders back and down.
Get a passive stretch on the pecs.
Get the neck out of that awful squinchy position.
And for heaven’s sake get some pressure off The Girls!

💆🏻♀️ My favorite method, really.
Idk how it works in the rest of the country - but here in Colorado, the birth rate is highest September thru November.
It’s cold and Jan/Feb/Mar, so people around here just stay home and *cuddle* 😜
Which means flowers aren’t the only thing blooming in the spring! Baby bumps are starting to show everywhere you look.
Which means it’s time for the annual reminder that If you’re an expectant mama, it’s time to get your b***y on someone’s books!!
Prenatal massage has been associated with:
- decreased labor times,
- decreased postpartum healing timelines,
- decreased occurrence of stress/duress during labor for both mom and the little one,
- fewer complaints of low back pain throughout pregnancy
- better quality of sleep throughout pregnancy
- lessened foot and hand swelling throughout pregnancy
Ready to take on the world.

Maybe money can buy happiness. Maybe it really can’t. But I do know I’m happier when money buys me a massage. So I’ll start there.

Ever wonder why Remy the Rhino is Summit’s (very official) mascot?
Because Summit donates $2 from every massage to .
Not only does every session at Summit support a small business owner (me!) and your local Denver community, but it also makes you a supporter of our little herd: Raha, Maxwell and Mukutan (who’s an elephant, not a rhino, but we love him just as much)
There’s a link in Summit’s bio for anyone who wants to learn more about Sheldrick and how you can support them yourself, even if you aren’t a current client here at the studio.

✨ Who’s in the mood to earn a free massage?! ✨
Send 4 people, and the 5th is on the house
(It’s me, I am the house)
A few of Summit’s OG regulars are going through life changes — new jobs, moving out-of-state, welcoming new family members, etc etc.
SO. With all these changing schedules, I’ve got the bandwidth to bring on new clients again!
I look forward to meeting y’all’s people 😉
The more you know 🤯

Bodyworkers Business Bootcamp. Don’t take my word for it - take hers!
140pages of actual hands-on exercises to get your studio on its feet, exactly the same way I built mine.
Im not a financial dudebro telling you to scale your team because the only way to succeed is to build an empire.
I’m not an MLMer saying if you sell essential oils (or pre-templated digital products) you’ll earn six figures overnight.
I AM a solo massage therapist who wrote down all the steps I took to get my own studio on its feet - and turned them into daily action steps for other bodyworkers to use them, too.

Someone told me shoulder pads are making a comeback?!
Yes please!
(No, I have no interest in discussing the difference between the shoulder pairs in women’s Power Suits and the shoulder pads in my massage studio. Because both types have my full support.)
— they passive retract the shoulder, they take pressure off the girls, and they are the *real* reason my clients are loyal AF.

New year new me? Nah.
New year, same me…But in case some of y’all are new, or haven’t checked in in a while, keep reading and swipe left for a refresher about who exactly “me” is, both personally and professionally.
🙋🏻♀️ I’m Rachel!
💍 I’m married to my best friend.
🥃 I’m a bourbon enthusiast.
🐾 I’m a dog mom to Whiskey and Rye.
🤦🏻♀️ I love bad jokes.
🩰 I’m an ex-athlete and ex-dancer, with intentions of getting back into the latter in 2024.
📚 I love romantasy books. (I bribe myself into reading business and personal development books by *also* buying a fun one to read when I’m done. Excellent tactic. Highly recommend).
✈️ I love to travel. My goal for 2024 is to book/pay off a 2025 trip to Greece. ( . If the trip is prepaid, it is now free, and your budget for food and souvenirs just got bigger).
🛠️ I can usually be found making a DIY-related mess somewhere in the house.
💇🏻♀️ I am a millennial and will *never* abandon my emotional-support side-part.
🍿 and I do believe that Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
Actual footage of me finally making time for self-care. 😂
It's been a while since I posted this this.
I shouldn't have to in the first place...but as long as we live in a world where shaming is a thing, I have a feeling I'll need to.

B***y b***y b***y b***y walkin’ everywhere!
Okay, okay. I'm not cool enough to get away with song lyrics like that. But! Gluteus Medius IS an important muscle for normal walking mechanics, so you can understand where I was going with the song choice.
Glute Med plays an important role in stabilizing the pelvis in single-leg weight-bearing scenarios. Weakness in the glute med can therefore result in abnormal walking patterns, causing (invisible) pain at the hip and knee, and (visible) inward movement of the knee while walking, squatting, or climbing stairs.
Sound like you? That’s alright. We’re here to help

To follow up on Sunday's post about red light therapy, here are some quick facts about why I love having it in-office at Summit.
Did you know Red Light therapy helps increase fresh blood flow into a problem area as well as lymphatic flow out of it? This means decreased pain, faster healing time, and even more work being accomplished during your massage.
It's a win-win-win!!
At Summit, what you see is what you get.
Muscle Monday strikes again!!
