With the summer heat in full swing, it's so important to take extra care of our older loved ones. Older adults are more susceptible to heat stroke, so let's make sure they stay safe and comfortable. Here are a few tips:
Stay Hydrated π§: Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Stay Indoors During Peak Hours π‘: Avoid going out during the hottest parts of the day (10 AM - 4 PM).
Keep Cool βοΈ: Use fans, air conditioning, or cool showers to stay cool. If you don't have AC, spend time in air-conditioned places like malls or libraries.
Dress Light π: Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothes.
Check In βοΈ: Regularly check on older family members, friends, and neighbors to make sure they're doing okay.
Let's look out for each other and enjoy a safe and healthy summer! π»β€οΈ
These fantastic kids at Columbine United Church made the best dog and cat treat bags for our clients who have pets. Thank you so much to Samantha Bronson and her Youth Group for taking a summer day to help older adults!

At Nourish Meals on Wheels, we understand that food is at the heart of our culture, bringing warmth and connection to our lives. It carries the flavors of our history and traditions, reminding us of where we come from. Today, Chef Geoff prepared a meal that encompasses the symbolism of Juneteenth: oven fried chicken with country gravy, stewed collard greens with vegetables, corn succotash, and watermelon salad. These traditional dishes, passed down through generations, connect us to our roots and help us appreciate the beauty of different cultures. Through food, we find comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging.
