It's Feel-Good Friday!!
The great gentlemen at Muffler Brothers knew just what to do in this situation...
While working on a vehicle, a kitten was found in the engine so Muffler Brothers contacted Evergreen right away. Officer Ruble was at their shop when they found him, so he escorted him to Evergreen for care! The kitten is receiving care (healthy so far!) and we are all enjoying his cuddles. Thank you Muffler Brothers and Officer Ruble for your acts of kindness today to help this little guy!

🌲 National Mosquito Awareness Day🌲
Did you know that according to the American Heartworm Society more than one million pets in the United States have been diagnosed with heartworm disease? Heartworms are transmitted to canines and felines from the bite of an infected mosquito, which then causes the disease.
Heartworm disease can be fatal to your pet. Over the years, we have treated cases of heartworm disease successfully. Fortunately, heartworm disease is very preventable with prevention that is prescribed by your veterinarian. A once-a-month chewable tablet, or once-a-year injection, can save your pet's life. Prevention against heartworm disease is recommended by all of the doctors at Evergreen and is available in office and on our online pharmacy.

🌲National Pet Immunization Month 🌲
Let's talk vaccines!
Vaccines are an important aspect to your pet’s life as they protect them from diseases, some that may even be fatal. There are two different types of vaccines: “core” and “lifestyle”.
Core vaccines protect your pet from common diseases that can affect all pets. Lifestyle vaccines protect your pet from diseases that may occur based on your pet’s lifestyle.
You can visit our website at https://evergreenvh.com/pet-owner-411

✨ Prepare for Fireworks ✨
Firework celebrations are around the corner! Here are some tips to help keep your dog or cat safe and calm during fireworks.
1. Keep them inside.
Make sure they’re microchipped and wearing a collar.
2. Create a safe space.
A crate or small room can be used as a safe space. Provide comfy bedding, toys, and provide noise such as radio, TV, or white noise to drown the sudden noises from fireworks.
3. Desensitize.
For some dogs, practicing this technique can produce positive associations with fireworks. Start this process by playing low volume fireworks sounds while feeding treats and giving verbal praise. Over time, slowly increase the sounds, and don't stop treating! If your dog refuses treats during a particular volume, return to the previous volume and encourage them some more.
4. Try calming solutions.
Calming wraps, vests, and shirts apply a constant, light pressure to help soothe pets, similar to the mechanism of a weighted blanket. Calming pheromones Adaptil and Feliway can deliver subtle support for calming feelings, and some over-the-counter products like Composure may provide some relief.
5. Ask us about medication.
If your pet is still too fearful during fireworks, we may be able to prescribe a short-acting medication to help them through the event. Medications work well with all of the options presented above.
As we approach The Fourth of July, be sure to talk to us about your pets' experience with fireworks. And as always, stay safe! 🎆🎇
