Dr. Mohr (Professor Mohr) recently took students in his Herpetology class out to a wetland ecosystem in an attempt to find the elusive spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum). No salamanders were found this time but they did see evidence of male salamanders leaving spermatophores out for the females they courted the night before. To read more about breeding behavior, see https://www.virginiah**petologicalsociety.com/amphibians/salamanders/spotted-salamander/index.php

Dr. Mohr (Professor Mohr) recently took students in his Herpetology class out to witness the explosive breeding behavior of wood frogs (Lithobates sylvaticus). These frogs will gather in the hundreds for a very short time period to court and breed and then go back into the surrounding habitat.

Last week was the last week of regular classes. Finals start today. This time of year is always bittersweet for the professors as we have to say goodbye to a few of our seniors who will be graduating at the end of this week. Every term we hold a special science chapel where different professors pick verses and pass them on to our graduating seniors. We’re going to miss you!
