Who should apply?
Students who may be taking Parkland courses in the fall should apply. Even if you aren’t sure you will be taking classes in the fall, you should apply for scholarships.
How do you apply?
It is EASY to apply. It’s all online and one application will put you in the running for most of the available scholarships.
Current Parkland students: Go to www.Parkland.edu/ParklandScholarshipsand use your ParklandOne credentials to login.
Once you log into the Parkland College Scholarship program, you should select the Parkland College Scholarship Application (main scholarship application) to complete. You will be asked to either upload two letters of recommendation or enter the email address for two recommenders. You will also need to write a personal essay. A few scholarships may require additional information or a special essay. You will see these additional opportunities once you have submitted the Main Scholarship Application.
**Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)**
Note: For scholarships based on need, students must complete and submit their FAFSA. Visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to file your FAFSA.
Deadline to apply: Oct 31st at 5pm

BSA Meet and Greet (Wednesday, 10.25 & Thursday, 10.27)
This Wednesday and Thursday, the Black Student Association will have a tabling event in the Student Union. This club serves to provide students with community, a safe space, and the opportunity to create change, while empowering, teaching, discussing, and exploring the Black experience.
Halloween Costume Contest (Tuesday, 10.31)
Get ready for a scare... and show off your costume in this year’s competition! On October 31st, from 12-1pm, Student Life will be hosting a Halloween Costume Contest on the U-Wing Cafeteria stage. A panel of judges will score costumes based on authenticity, originality, detail, and entrance. The grand prize winner will receive a Betsy’s Bistro Gift card, Parkland sweatshirt, and tumbler. You have ONE more chance to attend the Student Leader Orientation in the Student Life Conference Room (U106), Thursday, 10.26, 12pm-1pm.
Please remember that you must attend one of these training sessions for your club to receive its annual allocation.

Are you continuing your education? Complete your Gen Ed certificate. All public four-year institutions in Illinois accept the courses included in the General Education Core Curriculum (GECC). This will ensure a seamless transfer to complete your four-year degree.
Is fall graduation in your future? Petition to graduate. Submit your form before November 3. For more information, visit the Admissions Office.

Check your mail. Watch for your second mid-term refund. Funds will be mailed or deposited on October 27 (fall loans only).
Wesley Food Pantry Distribution
The Wesley Food Pantry offers a week’s worth of free groceries at their food distributions. Open every Wednesday 1– 3pm and 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month 10am – noon. Distributions are outside room M138 next to the M1 parking lot. Fresh produce, frozen meats, and pantry staples are available at each distribution.

Monday (3/6) 11:00AM-1:00PM: Pregnancy & Parenting Fair
The Wellness Center will be hosting a showcase for community services for pregnant and parenting students. Various organizations will be giving away food, baby supplies, and information on useful resources. Located in the College Center (X-wing).
Tuesday (3/7) 12:00PM-1:00PM: Alcohol Awareness
Learn about safe drinking practices with the Wellness Center and Public Safety Officer Sam Penland. Participate in an obstacle course with an inebriation simulation, as well as an example field sobriety test.
Wednesday (3/8) 1:00PM-2:00PM: Black Student Success Project – Holistic Wellness
Pose your questions to Ashanti Lumpkin, Wellness Coordinator; Katie Schact, Counseling Services; and Dawn Longfellow, Wesley Food Pantry. Free lunch for student attendees.

You Need to Know
Spring Break for students runs March 11–19. RELAX, take time away from classes and books. Parkland College will be closed all day to students, faculty, and staff for Spring Holiday, Friday, March 17.

Today (March 6) is the first day of 8-week classes. We will have a one-day late registration period for 8-week classes. Students can visit parkland.edu/register to access the late registration electronic form on Monday morning, if they are still interested in registering for a class that starts on Monday. Feel free to direct students to Admissions and Records for assistance.
The last day to drop classes that began March 6 (for 100% refund) is March 12.
Your Petition to Graduate form is due March 10 if you are graduating and wish to participate in the commencement ceremony.
