2024 Summit Academy Mountaineer Days are Thursday July 25th for 7th Grade and Friday July 26th for 8th Graders!! Any questions please contact the front office! We are looking forward to welcoming back our students!

This year we brought back the Teachers vs. 5th grade end of year basketball game! In a close game the Teachers prevailed and beat the 5th graders 44 to 38! It was a great way to end our year and everyone from Kindergarten to 5th grade had fun! Can’t wait till next year!

Congratulations to Mrs. Strachan’s 2nd grade class for winning Creative Hair spirit day on March 15th!!! Love seeing our students creativity shine!

Thank You for helping our IA’s with their t-shirt project to forever commemorate “The Best Day of the Year” also known as the day Mrs. Pursley got slimed! Thank you Mrs. Pursley for being a good sport and rocking your t-shirt!!

During the month of April students worked on their volleyball skills during P.E. classes.

It’s that time of year! Our Summit Academy yearbook is now available for preorder. They are $26 and you must order by 5/17/24.

This Thursday 4/18 from 6-7:30pm we will be having an art show showcasing the work of our 4th and 5th grade students. You will be able to purchase the frame of your students artwork for $15.00 if you wish to do so! Cash, Credit Card, and Checks are accepted.

Meet Samantha Pincus, a very proud fifth grade teacher at Summit Academy! Samantha comes from a long line of educators and works hard to carry on the family tradition. Congratulations to Mrs. Staas’ 3rd grade class for winning our K-5 Jersey Day spirit day!!! It was great to see so many students participating! Can’t wait to see what they do for Creative Hair day this month!

Come join on March 1st from 6-8pm for Reading Under the Stars with special guest Author and former staff member Katie Reed. It will also be the last opportunity to purchase books from our Scholastic Book Fair. Fascios Hot Dogs and Kona Ice will also be there for some yummy treats!

Our Scholastic book fair starts tomorrow 2/22 and will end 3/1. Students will be alike to purchase books during their class time and during their lunch recess(except Fridays). Books will be available to purchase during Reading Under the Stars on 3/1.

Spring Picture Day for PK-5 is Tuesday February 27, 2024. Only students that have prepaid will have their picture taken that day.

Thank You for the delicious King Cake yesterday in celebration of Mardi Gras.
Fun Fact : King Cakes of New Orleans is traditionally eaten during Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday. This version of the King Cake more closely resembles those of Spanish speaking countries. Each cake has a plastic baby hidden and the finder will have good luck and is “king” for the day.

This week the 4th and 5th graders played the Price Is Right El Precio es Correcto…they had to write the cost of different items in Spanish as part of our Spanish numbers unit ̃ol

Today our 5th grade classes welcomed the city of Mesa’s Mayor who shared and answered questions about what it is like to be the Mayor of a big city, what a Mayor does on a daily basis, and the impact the Mayor can have on our community. Thank you very much for your time!

Congratulations to Ms. Warhus’ 1st grade class and Mrs. St. Louis’ 2nd grade class for winning our dress to impress spirit day!!! They will be sharing the trophy until our next spirit day!!

This week our Student Council will be selling valentines plushies during lunchtime recess! They are $2 a piece and you can only buy two per day.

As part of their ecosystems IB unit the third graders had a visit from the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. They participated in fund interactive STEAM-focused interactive activities that align with AZ K-12 Academic Standards. They learned about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem and identified the actions they can take to contribute to its conservation.

Fourth Grade learned some much in an informative SRP’s energy bike presentation, Powering Our Future. This engaging 55-minute learning experience was all about renewable energy, energy transformations, and electricity generation. Students were able to ride the power bikes firsthand to see how much work it takes to power up everyday devices like lightbulbs, a TV, a hairdryer, a blender and more.
