Chase's Diner

A big thank you to all those who came out last night for Chase’s Diner’s first Trunk or Treat. Especially our amazing staff! By any measure it surpassed any expectation we had. We learned a few things that we will do different the next time around, but overall, it was an amazing night. It’s hard to tell how many people we had show up, but aside from the toys and glow sticks this is the candy we started with:

324 Twix bars
324 Reese of peanut butter cups
324 three musketeers bars
324 almond Joy
600 bars of variety packs which have Milky Way Twix Snickers M&M’s skittles Starburst
324 Milky Way’s
288 baby Ruth
324 Rolos
324 Butterfingers
324 Kitcat
324 Hershey’s cookies and cream
324 Nestles crunch bars
300 packs of Oreos
288 bags of peanut M&Ms
300 mixed flavor, rice crispy treats
288 mini M&Ms
288 Swedish fish
288 sour patch kids
240 Keebler chips, deluxe cookies
288 starburst
288 sour punch straws

Those were all full-size bars or packages. Then just in case we went through all that, we had 15 bags of Costco chocolate fun size bars, and five bags of their sweet treats. The chocolate fun size bags average 160 pieces. The others averaged 200.

Add that together and you have over 9,500 pieces of candy.

Participating cars will be parked in the south parking lot for trunk or treating, along with music, games and raffles!
Reminder- our usual business hours will be followed today, we will be open 6am-2pm.

As we get closer to the weekend we’d like to wish you all a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
We will be CLOSED Monday September 2nd to allow our staff a day to spend with friends and family!

I just wanted to take a second to thank you all for following along and supporting us, from near or far!
We have some seriously amazing customers who really do make the hard days worth it all.
While we spend everyday trying to give our customers the best experience & tasty food, we know we’re not for everyone.

This afternoon we were bashed on Facebook for our prices. They exclaimed how our competitor (a massive international brand of course) offers a similar meal for $2 less.

I could explain until I’m blue in the face how much higher prices small businesses face (food vendors fight competitively for business of huge brands, our single store location isn’t a hot commodity for them). I could try to explain why small businesses go out of business so often. I could try to explain how hard it is to make a name for yourself and stick around for 27 years (thanks to you all!)

Instead, I’m just going to thank you all. We know it costs a little more to support local businesses sometimes. We have been so beyond blessed to have the community support us and we make sure to give back constantly. The soccer team you see playing at the park? We sponsor them. Your kids school fundraiser? We donated. Special needs bingo night? Wouldn’t ever miss it! Your “$2 more” meal not only keeps our doors open, but our employees employed and our community supported.

Our poor flag didn’t hold up through the last couple of storms. We have someone coming to take it down and dispose of it properly today. Our new flag will be delivered on Monday.
