Heading back east today after being away for a couple weeks. Wanted a complete mind, body, and spirit reset first.
has just what I needed: 190 degree heat cedar sauna with red light exposure for 20 minutes, 48 degree cold bath for a few minutes, and then back into the heat to warm back up.
Feeling like a million bucks, and looking forward to getting back home.
Next week on the podcast I have Dr Mark Harper, the author of Chill: The Cold Water Swim Cure… you’ll learn all the benefits of cold exposure and how you can have fun doing it! Stay tuned.
Please comment below if you love or hate the cold!!
Day one at glacier national park!!
Feeling stressed or overwhelmed?
Put down your screens and get outside this Father’s Day, and enjoy some of the beautiful nature our country has to offer… many times in your own backyard.
Morning hike with the team overlooking Lake Pontchartrain.
Found someone familiar in Oslo… not sure why he’s here or how he got such a magnificent view, but I dig seeing the USA represented here.
A little googling found this, “due to FDR speech in support of Norwegians resistance fighters against the N***s , although some journalists thought Norwegians stood by and did nothing against Hi**er - FDR wrote - ‘If there is anyone who still wonders why this war is being fought, let him look to Norway’”
Enjoying a four coffee tasting menu with in Oslo. Loved the coffees from Honduras the most!
As I observed Tim and his team at the shop today I noticed their professionalism and passion for their craft. Tim is a coffee scientist. They have perfected the process and the service.
Anytime you can enjoy the fruits of a master’s work take the chance. Art can take many forms… but a master’s work will always be beautiful to witness.
Will come back here before we leave Norway!
I’m enjoying this book by ! Have you read it yet?
It’s a completely untraditional, but refreshing and thought provoking path for life.
What’s stuck out the most for me?
1) experience/memory dividends— invest in experiences and memories early and you can withdraw and enjoy them from memory for years to come.
2) sort of morbid, but run mortality data on yourself (I ran four and the consensus is I’ll live to 98) this helps you plan your life and your expenses— the data shows that we spend less each decade after 40… even though our net worth is going up. See #1 live your life now!!
Bill is coming on the podcast soon, what questions do you have for him?
James Quandahl Report In From Norway and We Discuss Being a Creator, The Value of Travel, Big Decisions That Lead To Big Freedom and More Jason Wright and James Quandahl As usual, this conversation with my buddy and fellow entrepreneur and podcaster James Quandahl is packed with goodies. There’s something about when James and I…
When your good friend asks you to be on his podcast while you’re on vacation you say yes… even if it means making your studio out of Norwegian games, recording in your gym shorts (which isn’t too unusual) and I even donned my new sweater for the occasion!
Does it bring you joy?
If yes, you’re on the right track… if you feel like you aren’t good enough, just keep on going and get better!
Climb your mountains!
Before we came to Norway I heard about the seven mountains of Bergen… and thought how cool, but unlikely, it would be to climb all seven while we are here!
Well… yesterday we hiked on three of the seven!
Set a goal and then make it happen.
You can do it!
What’s your goal for today?
We went to the farmers market in Bergen which is only twice per month!
Stocked up on meats, cheese, and breads from small farms.
Made a delicious sandwich with Norwegian brown goats cheese and this morning had salmon roe!
Breads, meats and fish are excellent here!
Just dip down!!
Water temp just above freezing in Norway on day one of our trip… but I decided I wanted to jump into the snow capped mountain fed lake at some point, why not in the first hour?
If there’s something you want to do… just dip down.
Hello from Norway! 🇳🇴
My signature green hoodie, but in a new local.
Killing jet lag and adjusting to the new time quickly with my glasses.
Trying to build up the nerves to jump into this freezing cold lake and really shift my circadian rhythm.
You can do it. Let this be your encouragement to just get started. I believe in you.
Are you an introvert?
Or a extrovert?
Or are you some type of hybrid?
I’m definitely a hybrid and change slightly depending on the season I’m in.
New office, whose this?
Have a standing work station on one wall and a sitting station overlooking the forest on the other. Tons of natural light and a small grounding mat on the floor underneath.
We’ll see how the audio quality is… might still end up in a small closet to record the podcast!
Please help caption this photo of me…
Grow your skills and knowledge each and every single day!
Getting a little bit better each day will create massive gains on one year.
Start small, start today, and stick with it.
You can learn from teachers, books, podcasts, YouTube, from watching others, or just good old fashioned trial and error.
But just get started and don’t worry about being a beginner. We’re all beginners. Embrace it!
Make new friends, but sheep the old!
My favorite spot to rest and recharge is a small sheep farm in North Carolina.
It’s where my wife and I setup our year, dream big, and make plans.
Where do you feel grounded and allow yourself to fully recharge ?
Are my podcast episodes showing up on your Facebook feed from Facebook Podcasts? On Facebook on your phone does my Podcast catalog show up?
It isn't working for me...
I showed you my podcast studio… now for a glimpse at my office! Don’t believe anyone that tells you that you need fancy stuff to get started on your dreams.
Don’t let anything get in the way of your dreams.
Start small, start where you are, and start right now, today!
And yes, the green hoodie is my signature item.
Loved this one by !
Most books I’ve read on how to be successful suggest putting layers and gatekeepers between yourself and outside distractions, but Bob Goff embraces serendipity and availability and allows for phone calls, emails, and chance meetings to happen. (He even publishes his phone number in every book!)
I’ve struggled with embracing being unavailable and putting up blocks, so I think his strategy is much more my speed!!
Which do you think works best?
Spring is coming! ☀️
How many sunsets will you see this year? I try to catch the sun setting a few times per week. It helps me slow down, be present, and helps me fall asleep that evening.
Give it a try!
Growth happens just past the comfort zone!
Emily and I want to take our cooking to another level, so we’re taking some Italian cooking lessons! Week one we made tagliatelle, pappardelle (with saffron) and tajarin.
All I can say is… getting uncomfortable is delicious! And fun…
Try something new today!
I fired off the below text to a friend…
“You inspired me to take a long solo walk today and it was reinvigorating. Sat on a bench for a while watching an egret fish in the pond. I needed that. Thank you!”
I had forgotten how great it feels to take a long walk with no music, podcast, notepad, or agenda.
Just allowing myself to let my mind wander and take in the scenery.
I could feel my brain connecting new dots and relaxing.
Give it a try!
