As we transition into an exciting new season, Charleston Bee Works, too, is undergoing a change.

From this point forward, Charleston Bee Works will be free from fragrance and palm oils. 🥳

Letting go of these oils has been a long-term goal for this little business and this change solidifies my commitment to making wholesome, healthy, environmentally-friendly products for you.

So what does this mean?

🧼 Soaps, you won’t even notice. Palm oil will be replaced by high quality butters and oils that produce the same natural moisture and protection you love.

🕯️ Candles remain 100% local beeswax. Jars will no longer be scented with fragrance oils.

🐝 Lotion Bars will be the hard pill to swallow. Although several of my retail partners will, for a time, continue to carry lotion bars of my traditional scents, those that contain fragrance oils will be phased out of production.

🥰 Don’t fret! This means wholesome lotion bars scented exclusively with natural essential oils will replace them and I will continue to produce unscented, natural bars!

🐝 I thank you always for being here and am excited to get the fall restock in production and soon available online!

Fun Farm Fact: Let's get down to bees-ness this week with some honeybee info! have five eyes - 2 large compound eyes and 3 simple eyes located at the top of their head. This is how they can see flower markings that only show in UV light and find the sun on cloudy days.

It's been awhile since I've said hello, so allow me to re-introduce myself.

I’m Brooke, it’s nice to meet you.
I am the owner and maker of all things Charleston Bee Works.

I started Charleston Bee Works in 2021, a year when we were all thinking about indoor air quality. I wanted healthier options for burning candles inside our family home. I did some reading and taught myself to work with beeswax. Since then I have built a strong relationship with local beekeepers and am able to hand-make products with local beeswax from a family-owned Mountain State apiary.

A bit about me: I am Appalachian with a splash of bourbon. Raised in southeastern Kentucky, I received my higher education and did my second growing up in central Kentucky’s horse and bourbon country where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Transylvania University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University. After a decade working in the non-profit and public sector I decided to be a fulltime mom. I now live in West Virginia’s capital city, where I am raising my own three busy bees with my wonderful husband. I love outdoor recreation and playing outside and I love to make things, grow things and bake things. I strive to provide a healthy home for my family and hope I can help you do the same.
