Less water today 🙌 All looks good so far, flooded neighborhood roads from yesterday have receded.

Still some areas with standing water on roads due to full ditches *cough* SSCDOT

Per CPD (Thank you Team 3!):

High tide last night did not even cause the flooding on Riverland that we had seen earlier in the day. There were a few more tree limbs that came down that have been removed and the light at Folly and Ellis Oak is on flashing status again but is being addressed.

Town of James Island Tropical Storm Debby Update 4

With the effects of Tropical Storm Debby being felt throughout the area, the Town remains at OPCON ONE, meaning that an emergency is imminent or occurring, the Town's Municipal Emergency Operations Center is open and fully activated, and all personnel are activated or available for activation. Town officials remain in close contact with County Emergency Management and other regional and state partners.

James Island officials and staff conducted windshield assessments throughout the Town after sun-up and are working with partners to clear downed trees, repair broken lines and close flooded streets as necessary.

Currently, the following roads in Town are closed due to flooding:
• Chandler Street
• Pauline Ave.
• Winborn Dr. between Quail Dr. and Dill's Bluff Rd.

Mayor Brook Lyon said, "Between flooded streets and downed trees and powerlines, conditions on the roads are treacherous. Residents should heed the advice of our first responders and stay home throughout this storm if at all possible."

Closures and cancellations: The Town of James Island remains closed for regular business today as officials and staff perform their emergency roles. All Town-sponsored public meetings have been cancelled for the week.

Information Line: The Charleston County Community Information Line is being staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to provide updates and answer questions regarding the storm. For assistance in English, dial (843) 746-3900. For Spanish, call (843) 746-3909. As always, if you are experiencing an emergency, dial 911.

Emergency Management Updates: For area emergency updates, residents are encouraged to follow Charleston County Government on social media (Facebook, X/Twitter), download the 2024 Hurricane Guide, and sign up for the Citizen’s Alert System.

Latest weather: For the most accurate and up-to-date weather forecasts, residents should stay tuned to the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service Charleston websites, as well as local media and SCEMD’s SC Emergency Manager app.

Lake Westchester (aka Thomas Johnson park) will probably be around all week!
😳

08/06/2024

**Per CPD: There have been no major, significant incidents reported. High tide was at 10 so we are currently assessing any tidal flooding. As of right now, we are closing off Riverland between Fleming and Central Park due to flooding.

‘Typical’ JI locations, streets, yards with flooding, some neighborhood roads impassable as well. 😢 Debris and standing water on some roadways as some ditches are at capacity. Downed power lines reported but police and Dominion are on it!

Please help your neighbors JI and comment below with anything you see going on!

Please stay safe y’all and stay home if you can to keep our first responders out of harms way. 💙
