88 isn’t bad for me first time seeing Pete Dye. Thanks to the Capital City Amateur Golf Tour - Columbus, OH for hosting a great event today.

Hopefully I don’t shoot 1000 today.

Congrats to me and me for finishing first and second. Defending bracket champ Craig Jackson came home 3rd.

Maybe it’s why the course is called “cascades”.

After Day 1 of the Sam Snead Classic, Brandon Thompson leads D2 by 7 shots over Chad Davis. Joey Fyall leads James Chambers by 7 shots as well in D4. Jason Lawson leads D5 by 3 over Jim Pritchett. D3 has a 3 way tie at the top between Justin Keaton, Craig Jackson, and Tom Lull.
Championship Sunday heads to The Cascades Course where anything can happen. Tee times begin at 9:00 AM.

🚨 April schedule update. 🚨
We lost The Pines for the 23rd. I spoke with their pro yesterday and they were having to raise the rates a wee bit. Since the opener at Homestead and Oglebay in May will be a lil pricey, we agreed to look at possibly hosting the season opener at The Pines next year.
Going to try and replace The Pines with Parkersburg CC for the 23rd. If not, then I’ll try and find something for that weekend somewhere.
We’re still good for Bridgeport on the 16th.
I’m hoping…really really hoping to have the schedule officially completed by Wednesday of next week.
Pairings for Homestead will be out Tuesday afternoon. Again, Tuesday at 10:24 AM is the deadline and that’s a FIRM deadline for Homestead. I’ve gotta give them a headcount that day so they can build a tee sheet for their hotel guests, members, and public play.

Deadline to register for the season opening 2 day event at The Omni Homestead (Sam Snead’s home course) is next Tuesday the 28th at 10:24 AM. I have to give them a headcount that day.
Temps are predicted to be in the high 50s. Day 1 on The Old Course, day 2 at The Cascades. Tee times begin at 9 AM both day.

Sorry for my posting absence. I’ve been so busy lately I’ve been behind. Hoping to get the schedule finalized officially by next week.

With the tour championship having to be played a week earlier than we typically schedule it for, we won’t be able to host the championship at The Cobb Course this season. Hopefully the schedule works out and we can return in 2024 to Cobb. We will have Cobb on the 2023 schedule, along with Stonehaven/Woodhaven.
For the 2023 championship, we are headed north to Morgantown to play at Lakeview Resort on Sept 9th and 10th. Tee times begin at 1:00 on the 9th and 11:30 on the 10th. The Mounties play the fearsome Dukes of Duquesne that day. A kickoff time has not come out yet. If I had to guess, it’ll kickoff at noon. Sorry. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Room rates will be available and we will play the Mountain course on day 1 and the Lakeview course on day 2.
I’m having to redo portions of the schedule. I’m hoping to have it completed by the end of next week.

Reminder, deadline to register for this Sunday’s fall finale at Parkersburg Country Club is tomorrow at 10:24 AM.
Registration for The Homestead opens this Monday the 28th. You can pay a deposit to hold your spot, in an event that should most certainly sell out. When the spots are gone, they’re gone. So reserve your spot now with a small deposit and be guaranteed to play in the 2023 opening 2-day opener.

Myrtle Beach has 8 spots left. I just signed up. When they’re gone they’re gone, so if you’re wanting to play, better get on it. It’s a $100 deposit now, then the remaining balance comes out next weekend.

The Parkersburg Country Club tournament has been moved officially to Sunday November 27th. We’ll look at a time on November 26th, but plan for a 1:00 start. Still only taking 16 players.
I’m unavailable every weekend in December, so if we don’t play on the 27th, not sure we get it in.
Also, for those of you wanting to play in Myrtle Beach the first weekend of December, as of this morning there were 30 spots left. Deadline to register is next Saturday.
I saw some of you were already signed up, I hope to see you there. United broke my driver coming back from Phoenix, so hopefully it’s repaired by then. 🤬

I haven’t spoken with the course, but I have decided to postpone this weekends golf tournament at Parkersburg CC due to the projected forecast of cold weather.
I’m hoping to speak with the course about trying to reschedule for next weekend, where temps are projected to be around 50. As soon as I get a new date, I’ll make a post.
I’ve turned off registration for this event until next Monday. Hopefully I will have spoken to the course by then.

This Saturday’s event we will only take 16 players and it will be the final event of the fall season.
I won’t know until Thursday afternoon if the start time can be changed. Also, depending on the weather (temperature), it may get postponed. I’ve already got trophies made with the Parkersburg name, so we will have the event at some point.
Deadline to register is this Thursday at 10:24 AM. If it gets postponed, I will let everyone who registered know by Friday.

The golf gods smiled with perfect weather in West Virginia, with only a brief rain shower as a full field took to the George Cobb designed…

The kickoff to the 2023 season begins today at 1:00 for the Capital City Classic at Edgewood Country Club. Follow the action to see what players are taking advantage of the birdie opportunities.
A full field looks to set the tone early in their respective flights and begin to gain championship points to see who wears the championship belt (yes, I’m having championship belts made this season) after the West Por Dios Tour Championship.
* Over/Under on water balls on #5 sits at 6 1/2. Place your bets in your hearts since gambling is addictive and frowned upon. 😂

Capital City Classic Edgewood Country Club is the premiere private golf club in the Kanawha Valley region, with a tight 18-hole layout, with fast greens with sudden breaks.

Some of you complain about your ball landing in divots…play from a horse hoof print. 🤷🏻‍♂️
