Backward Christian Soldiers... Let the following be not true of us!
'Backward Christian soldiers, fleeing from the fight
With the Cross of Jesus nearly out of sight.
Christ our rightful master, stands against the foe
But forward into battle, we are loathe to go.
Like a mighty tortoise moves the Church of God
Brothers we are treading where we’ve always trod.
We are much divided, many bodies we
Having many doctrines, not much charity.
Crowns and thorns may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus hidden does remain.
Gates of Hell should never ‘gainst the Church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise, but think that it will fail.
Sit here then ye people, join our useless throng
Blend with ours your voices in a feeble song
Blessings, ease and comfort, ask from Christ the King
With our modern thinking, we don’t do a thing.'

“A church that refuses to take the gospel into the world meets together for judgement. Every song, every prayer, every sermon is but another indictment of its guilt.”
'To whom much is given much will be required.'
-Mr. Jon Pilgrim
“Teach me humbly to receive the sun and rain of Your sovereignty.
Each strand of sorrow has a place within this tapestry of grace;
So through the trials I choose to say, ‘Your perfect will in Your perfect way’.”
Do you have Christ and does Christ have you?
Your thought for today.
Find hope where there is true hope!
In Jesus alone.
Let those that have ears hear what the Spirit says…
My friend, you have a never-dying soul. Your heart will be restless until it finds its rest in God. You were made for eternity. You are more precious than the world, the majestic animals, and the stars. God made you as the crowning work of His creation.
-Joseph Urban
In 1912, the unsinkable Titanic went down in the icy black waters in minutes. Headlines read: “The Great Titanic Sunk.” It’s an eerie preview the last day, when the anti-God civilization of man, likened to a Carnival-like luxury cruise ship, unexpectedly goes down to destruction. “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!…Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon! For in one hour your judgment has come…. a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, ‘Thus will Babylon be thrown down with violence, and not be found any longer’” (Rev.18:2, 10, 21).
It’s all going down, this anti-God Babylon, Titanic ship-of-a-world. In 1912, many didn’t believe the warnings to abandon ship, thinking it a silly joke. Do YOU believe it’s all doomed? Or do you shrug it off as a joke, and go back to your drinking at the bar, dancing in the ball room, gambling at the table, romancing in the cabin, just having a good time, not wanting to be bothered? It’s all going down!
There’s only one lifeboat. Like in Noah’s day, there’s only one place of safety. It was built by a Carpenter from Nazareth. He completed salvation on a Cross, then cried, “It is finished.” Now sinners have a leak-proof ship to which they can flee for safety. What about YOU? So obsessed with the glittery, sensual, financial, immoral preoccupations of this world that you suspect your heart is not on the ark, but in the ball room? Wake up! Repent and believe in Jesus. Abandon ship! Get your soul into the lifeboat. There’s still room.

Jesus was moved by compassion, not by fear.
Take a notice of the rich mercy and patience of God! Whenever you are warned of the evil of your ways, lay it to heart. But when warning is neglected, wrath is exasperated. This will be your great torment in hell, to think you were warned and would not regard it.
-Thomas Manton
Psalm 23 is so common to be read at funeral's, but I've realized by familiarity we've overlooked the sweetness of this passage. So I hope through re-thinking and re-reading this psalm we'll see the depths of truth for life we have here from God.
"The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want."
God calls us sheep. We are made His own sheep by His calling and by His rescuing work. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, sought us when we were lost in sin and out in the fields of destruction. And now as His little sheep, we brought into the fold by His own work. Because we are His and He is our Shepherd, we won't lack any good thing. That doesn't mean we'll have every physical worldly thing we want, but rather in our daily struggles, temptations and struggles, God will be with us and help us to walk in obedience to Him and give us His joy in the sorrows of life.
So trust in your Shepherd and stay close to Him. His goodness and mercy will follow you all your days, yes, even through the shadow of death.
Have you ever thought seriously about these truths?
If God is for you, who can be against you?
**but the opposite is also true**
If God is against you, who can be for you?
You will only find satisfaction, purpose, and peace in knowing God through Jesus Christ.
So are you in Christ?
True faith is always active and always bears fruit.
Do you bear fruit?
Is your faith real?
“Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility.
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.”

The problem is churches holding a weightless Christianity because they don’t know God or know Him very superficially.
Praise God that we are saved by the effort and work of Christ on our behalf and not by our efforts!

“We do not truly understand the gospel if we spend all of our time preaching it to Christians. The gospel is a missionary gospel. It is a communication of Good News to people and in places where the name of Christ is unknown.”
-D. Sitton
You will be lost without the solid-rock of the Word of God.
Are you lost? Do you have a guide? Do you have truth?
You need nothing but Christ.
Step forward taking God at His Word.
This is faith.
No matter what opposition Satan may raise up in his attempt to hinder the work of God, where His people press forward in the energy of faith the Lord can be depended upon to give all needed grace and wisdom that they may carry out that which He Himself has planned. Unbelief looks at the hindrances and shrinks from the dangers, but faith looks to God alone and counts on Him to undertake in His own marvelous way. This is a lesson that we all need to learn as we face the difficulties and perplexities of life.

How can I refuse a person whom God has received? How can I push away from my heart’s affections one whom God has loved?
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. -Ephesians 4:32
Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. -Romans 15:7
