Thanks Fleet Feet Mount Pleasant and Let's Walk for selecting Dave and helping him get fitted with new shoes for walking. We appreciate how much you give back to our running community as well as our veterans.
Thank you Dave for your service! We appreciate you!
Salute from the Shore is back for 2024! Check out where you can see the flyover on July 4.
Here's our flyover schedule for ! Each year, it is the wonderful support of active-duty military men and women who make SFTS possible. With each year, there’s always the possibility that aircraft and crew will be called to a higher mission and pulled away from this event at the last minute. That is the case this year for our largest participant and crowd pleaser, the Globemaster C-17 out of Charleston Joint Base. We thank the crew for their service, wish them good luck on their mission and hope to have them back again next year!
That said, SFTS is still ON with our friends in F-16s from the 169th Fighter Wing with McEntire JNGB and the Warbirds brigade of vintage military planes, delivering what promises to be a great day on the beach saluting our active and retired military personnel! Follow us along for any updates to the schedule. July 4th can't come soon enough! 😎 🏖️ 🇺🇸
If you're looking for fireworks displays, Mission One Mortgage has a comprehensive list.
As always, please keep your pets safe, and if you plan to shoot off your own fireworks, be safe as well.
Charleston is a great destination to celebrate the 4th of July. 🎆🌭 You can enjoy watching fireworks around the city and most of the time with a view of the water. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or a local wanting to celebrate Independence Day, you're in for a treat!
📍Sullivan’s Island - The free Party at The Park will begin at 6:00pm and guests are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket to watch the show firework show that will begin shortly after 9:00pm. Music will be provided by the Shem Creek Boogie Band.
📍Folly Beach - The free show will begin from the West side of the island, a few blocks from the Folly Beach Pier. Viewing is available from all along the beach and even throughout Center Street.
📍Isle of Palms - The show will be held from 9:00pm to 9:30pm. Admission is FREE. Setup for the firework show will begin at 6:30pm, so the city has asked visitors to leave the beach area between 21st Avenue to 3rd Sea Cabins during the preparation time.

The Charleston Airshow at Joint Base Charleston is set for April 20-21, 2024, promising an exceptional display of military and civilian aviation.
JB Charleston will open its gates to the public to witness “Heroes of Flight,” with the pride and precision of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration squadron, along with the U.S. Air Force Academy ‘Wings of Blue’ parachute team and a number of other military and civilian aerial demonstrations.
Attendees can explore a variety of modern and historic military aircraft and equipment on the ground, including the unique opportunity to engage with U.S. military personnel.
With a special focus on STEM education, the airshow will feature interactive activities and displays from leading aerospace companies. This initiative is aimed at inspiring the next generation to pursue a future in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
“The Charleston Community shows their love for the Military all the time and the Air Show is a big opportunity for us to show our love back,” said Col. Michael Freeman, 628th Air Base Wing and JB Charleston commander.
A parking pass is mandatory for event access. Passes are available at no cost via the airshow's official website, https://airshowcharleston.com. At tonight's Charleston City Council meeting, Mayor William Cogswell recognized our Veterans Day 5K's fundraising accomplishments and commitment to Col. Thomas O'Donnell. Our race director, Jack Cleland, also spoke at the meeting.
After the meeting, we presented the Lowcountry Veterans Organization and Ralph H. Johnson food pantry with $5,000 checks.
Thank you to everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, sponsored, and supported our inaugural 5K!
Thank you for your service, Ralph H. Johnson! You ARE Black history, and we're proud to raise money for the food bank at the medical center that bears your name.
This Black History Month, the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System honors the heroic legacy of its namesake, Private First Class Ralph H. Johnson. In 1968, Johnson, a Marine scout serving in Vietnam, sacrificed his life to save his fellow Marines. His remarkable courage and selflessness earned him the Medal of Honor posthumously.
Throughout history and still today, Black Veterans have shaped our country's progress towards building a more just society. This Black History Month, we celebrate their stories and honor their many contributions to our nation.
Next week is your chance to check out and tour the Go Coast Guard Charleston Cutter Stone.
