Happy Construction Work Wednesday! Our students in CONE 470 spent time completing the hardy board siding in the front and the back of the house and learned to cut and trim the hardiboard! Thank you Habitat for Humanity for allowing our students to work with you on these projects!
We are excited to announce that Joshua Wetmore got first place in both the engineering and Best Veteran/Active Duty Student Categories at Academic Excellence Day at The Citadel! He also did a great job presenting the poster at the Southern District Institute of Engineers (SDITE) meeting. There were 83 student scholarly presentations and 10 fine arts works on display, with over 240 student collaborators and faculty mentors involved in these projects this year. The body of work on display was impressive and included science and math, engineering, humanities, business, leadership studies, and education.

Sign up for the SHORES Summer seminar!The Citadel and SC Sea Grant Consortium are hosting a unique engineering student educational seminar, focused on Charleston Harbor coastal resilience and climate adaptation. Civil engineers and construction engineers will play a crucial role in designing and building infrastructure projects to 1.) improve coastal resiliency, 2.) adapt to climate change, 3.) protect communities from flooding, and 4.) ease impacts from sea level rise.The Seminar registration is FREE, however, you must sign-up ASAP!
Congratulations Bryson W. Peppers and Jake E. Debenport for receiving The Benjamin W. Sammis Civil Engineering Award! This award was established by the Sammis family to recognize outstanding leadership and qualities of a “citizen soldier” as the “Best All Around” student in construction engineering and civil engineering. This award is presented in honor of Capt. Benjamin W. Sammis, USMC, Citadel Class of 1996, civil engineering graduate, killed in action in Iraq, April 5, 2003.
