CONE Major Blondes Intership Spotlight
Senior construction engineering major Graham Blondes interned with BL Harbert International this summer, where he worked on-site with subcontractors in Charleston.
...
A member of The Citadel Mens Rugby Club, Blondes broke his ankle just before his first internship began with Donley's, a structural concrete company. That summer, he said, “I was stuck in the office,” so Donley’s trained Blondes in project management, material tracking, and time management. Classes in Excel and Autocad helped him succeed that summer, he said.
Between his junior and senior years, Cadet Blondes interned with BL Harbert International, at the construction site of Charleston’s first 5-star waterfront hotel, The Cooper. “I was in the field more, in touch with contractors, learning the craft of sub-contractors, and learning if the schedule was going as it should.”
Cadet Blondes said he hopes to work with BL Harbert full-time after graduating in May. Blondes highlighted that his ConE Structural Analysis class with Dr. John Ryan and his Project Scheduling class with Dr. Mostafa Batouli are both relevant to the career he plans to pursue.
“With the job market, a lot of people look for experience as much as a GPA. Internships look good on your resume,” Blondes concluded.
