That’s a wrap on SLA Day 1! Here’s what the day looked like:
Students started their day with several interactive group activities followed by informative sessions from leading professionals in our state. Moving into the afternoon, students participated in the annual strategic planning session where they were able to let their voices be heard! They shared experiences, perspectives, and concerns they had surrounding current and future engagement with the profession as a whole. They learned about advocacy, lobbying, the WV APTA board, future career paths, leadership qualities/opportunities and more.
We are so grateful to the individuals involved in organizing such a beneficial experience!

The West Virginia State Firemen's Association is eager to join state leaders in developing well-reasoned remedies that will allow our VFDs to continue to support our communities.

Godspeed to this incredible American Patriot and West Virginian. His heroic actions on Iwo Jima are those of legend. He's one of the reasons we reside in the greatest country on the planet. His mission on earth is complete but his legacy will live on for years to come.

Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center
Today at 3:15am, Hershel Woodrow Williams, affectionately known by many as Woody went home to be with the Lord. Woody peacefully joined his beloved wife Ruby while surrounded by his family at the VA Medical Center which bears his name.
Details about the funeral and memorial services will be shared as that information becomes available.
Woody’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for all of the love and support. They would also like to share that
Woody’s wish is that people continue to carry on his mission.
