More about our Featured Artist:

I am a senior Art Education major at EIU, focusing on oil painting and drawing. Danville, IL is my home, but Charleston has become a close second.

This is a collection of projects from my drawing, painting, and printmaking classes from the past 2 years. I am most inspired by the beauty of ordinary things.

The majority of this collection includes self-portraits from the past year. What started off as a fun challenge, slowly grew into an intimate investigation of myself, my values, my emotions, and the items that occupy my world. I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming my own muse and I will continue this theme throughout my entire artistic career.

I am so lucky to share this collection with you, so thank you.

The department would like to congratulate EIU MA in Art Education alum Merry K. Lanker on being named the 2023 Junior High/Middle Level Art Educator of the Year by the Illinois Art Education Association. We are so proud of you! She is an amazing teacher for the Decatur Public School district

The Department of Art + Design is pleased to announce that Laura O’Donnell will be teaching Ceramics for the 2023-24 school year. She has been teaching Ceramics the past several years at Parkland College and two years at the University of Illinois in Urbana - Champaign and has an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Illinois, UC
