Sometimes cutting the hair of a child with Sensory Processing Disorder can look like this

The noises of the clippers + the feeling of prickly hairs on their skin can be too much to handle and create an aversion to haircuts.

For my sweet sensitive boy Rory we improvise and do what we can to get the job done, even if it means to give the haircut in the shampoo bowl ☺️

Other times all it takes is a change in verbiage.

Prepping your child for their next visit using words like trim, shape up, clean up the ends, etc instead of saying the word “cut” can make a world of difference! Often times kids associate the word cut with pain so changing the way we approach salon visits can really help!

Sometimes when you get a shop to yourself you get to play colorist, client, and photographer 😊

Sidenote, Im absolutely LOVING my money piece in the shade S**g Rug. It is part of Pulp Riot Hair’s newer collection, The 70’s. The copper is so deep and rich I can’t wait to do more of it!

Check out this before & after! My girl was in need of a good color overhaul and since it’s the perfect time of year for warmth, we decided copper and burgundy would be our best bet! I did a deep but still vibrant copper along the hairline perimeter and a lovely merlot on top for a gorgeous two-tone fall blend 🍁🖤
