I have not showed you the finished Brunswick. Well here it is !
One of the brunzwick outfits that I’ve made this winter. Based off of d’Innocente Guillemette de Rosnyvinen de Pire circa. 1762
I found this hand dyed teal hunter green wool from favorite tradesperson. She hand dyes wool and had enough yardage.
Here is the petticoat on the dress form with the jacket in progress. Let me just say… this jacket has been thru some changes. It is not the longer version that I normally make for Brunswick’s. I’ve had to alter the whole hem and angle the front otherwise, it would not look right on wearer.
Besides there were so many different styles of jackets in the 18th century. I think you just need to find the one that looks right on you.
Getting a petticoat pleated and ready for a brunzwick outfit. The silk taffeta is thin so the whole bottom half is lined. Wish me luck on the jacket 😅
Scottish Dress in 18th-Century Virginia While dressing Colonial Williamsburg’s interpretive staff is both exciting and rewarding, it also comes with a great deal of responsibility. Along with daily tasks of constructing and maintaining period-appropriate clothing, there is the obligation to ensure that the clothing presented is correct ...
I get a lot of sewing done when it’s snowing outside. Here is my Outlander gown. Outlander is a fiction fantasy drama and I only gather inspiration from it sinceI do authentic costuming.
When I decided to make this gown I needed to do some research on plaid fabric being used in the American colonies….
Does anybody else study historical fabrics?
If you haven’t seen the new embroidered neckerchiefs …
