What was on my schedule today. SHIPPING!
All are on their way via UPS
Punch bowl replacements. Took a while but better late than never.
Sunday set up ready to go.
After a 9-10 day electrical delay, Ive fired 3 kilns, 2 with finished pots. Some of the pots pictured here are from one of the firings. The second finished pots firing is currently cooling, hopefully to be unloaded late tonight.
Fresh from the kiln, the first of 2 firings. This is the bisque firing. A slow rise in temp over 8 -10 hours from room temp to 1800°. It then cools naturally back to room temp to be unloaded. Decorations, glazing and a refire to over 2300° to follow.
Had a little trouble with the electric in the shop and had to get a new panel. The difference between old and new is striking.
Saturday setup, here we go
Ready for another Saturday in the Market. I won't be setting up tomorrow so I'm hoping for a good day.
New work from Thursday night's firing and the Saturday setup
New additions
Something new thats old
Set up early in the Market this morning anticipating a storm cell moving into the area but thankfully, it never materialized and even let the sun shine through a bit.
Wed & Thur were "big pot" days. The tall jar in the back is lidded and stands 19.5" tall. Should end up finishing at about 17", not including the height of the k**b on the lid..
Saturday Market setup. Finally put some garlic graters back on the table along with a new punch bowl. Last night's thunder & lightning storms have cleared leaving some standing water here and there but the clouds and the humidity are the big factors. Glad the temps are in the mid 60's with a gentle breeze and a few gusts.
Sunday setup complete. The South Eastern Wildlife Exposition started Fri and ends today. It usually attracts 30k-40k people for the 3 day event.
Acquired an old pug mill awhile back. It had been left for a long time without being cleaned. Clay tends to harden and bond, REALLY bond. It took about 15 total hours of dremelling with wire bristle heads, wire brushes of a wide variety and sand paper to remove the hardened clay. Now to youtube to figure out how to properly attach the air compressor that will remove air from the clay in the barrel as the auger blends and mixes the clay.
Sunday, fun day in the damp, misty cold City Market of Charleston, SC. The weather deterred some of the vendors and I ended up spreading out to the space next to me - the table with just the platters and bowls. Let's see what the day has in store!
Last Saturday for Hartslog Day 😐
First Market day after Hartslog day and I'm flush with inventory.
The Appalachian State's baseball field in fall is amazing!
