Located in the heart of the EIU campus. Booth Library serves the students, faculty and staff of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
Visitors are welcome to use the library and Illinois residents can apply for a library card. Booth Library, the general library of Eastern Illinois University, is named in honor of Miss Mary Josephine Booth, who served as head librarian at Eastern from 1904 to 1945.

This past year, Ben Ellison and Audrey Hopper completed their IRAD internship at the University Archives and Special Collections in Booth Library, home to an Illinois Regional Archives Depository. IRAD holds significant historical and genealogical records from 16 counties in East Central Illinois. Both interns gained valuable professional experience in archival work!

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Learn more about this important date in U.S. history -- June 19, 1865 -- and the story behind it from books in this special display on the main floor.
In commemoration of the Juneteenth holiday, the library building will be closed on Wednesday, June 19.

Last week hosted EIU STEM on CAMPus! This unique "camp" experience gives Scouts a glimpse of college life. Scouts sleep in dorms, eat in dining halls, and participate in fun evening activities. Booth Library joined the fun by offering opportunities to earn two merit badges: Reading and Digital Technology.
