i was inspired to make this graphic this morning. i hope that it brings u a sense of hope and acceptance that if u suffer from this injury, while many can't see, some of us do since we know what to look for.
and in the words of one of our Board of Directors, Tia Konzer D.O., "the only side effect with a psych dog is love and kisses". so what's better, everything this man is carrying on his back or the empirical data showing dogs can help more and help better? i wish dog rescues had enough money to send reps to doctors offices like big pharma companies do.
i just hope and pray that we can change the lives of people through these amazing and beautiful animals. anyone looking for "intelligent life" in the universe shouldn't look up, they should look at the furry creature licking your face.

*Action required!* This will be our charities first political action. Once again, our great friend to the charity, the incredible Morgan Fogarty brings another SERIOUS dog issue to light. In an age when there aren't any more serious issues for debate in the legislature, Charlotte's own State Representative Rodney Moore (DEMOCRAT) has brought HB 596 for the next session which would require potential owners of five breeds to have a state and federal background check, pay yet ANOTHER tax, get a license and require four hours of a safety class as well as notify their homeowners insurance. The breeds in question? Rotweillers, pit bulls, chows, perro de preso canario and the ever soooooooo ferocious mastiff. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!??!?! First off, our money is being used to push this garbage??? Second, this ignorant person sees no other pressing issues in our city and state?? Third, why are they being discriminated against??? He said "This is not a bill to try to discriminate against any breed"....yet, notice the active word in the sentence "try". That means it IS happening, he just wasn't "trying" for it to happen. I am soooooo outraged this morning about yet MORE senseless legislation brought about by yet ANOTHER democrat who wants MORE MONEY out of our pockets, clearly has NO CLUE about Mastiffs, and brought forth a bill discriminating against two breeds that do SERVICE DOG WORK!!!!!!!! Everyone knows Pit Bulls and Mastiffs are brilliant for service dog work. And so are chow mixes. CLEARLY a blind man could see this is about money - the question is does he simply want money from extra taxes or perhaps he has an insurance company as a campaign supporter. Why do I mention that? Because he claims he got the list of the five dogs from an insurance association. By notifying the insurance companies of owning these dogs, he claims it will adjust rates for policy holders. Always. Follow. The money. Not only does it help insurance companies, but the background checks will help the state and the extra licensing is simply another word for "tax". We will attempt to block this using the Service Dog laws through the ADA. If you live in North Carolina, I thought you all should know. PLEASE TAKE ACTION!!!! Peeps: the dogs rescued this weekend by the Humane Society of Charlotte from a "breeder that got in over her head" need some assistance: "...we are in need of SMALL BREED tiny sized dry dog food and/or canned food. Many had to have teeth removed and we could use any donations of small breed dog food that the public is able to help with."

Not all wounds are visible on the outside. If you have a broken bone, can you see it? No. But people accept that you have limitation. People hear you have depression or PTSD and because they can't see the swelling, a bandage or a cast, they think you can function just as normal as always. Wrong. Take a look at how it IS a physical injury that effects the brain.

i know that it's hard for some people to imagine that an "invisible wound" can be just as serious as massive bleeding, but as any physician will tell you, it's true.
