It’s officially Fall! For us, that means savory fall spices, comforting lentil dishes and festive entertaining. We love how the simple change in season inspires us to create different dishes (and spice art!). We’d love to hear your favorite fall ideas!
Nani has tried A LOT of gluten-free food and has struggled to find food that’s tasty AND that fits her needs. Not only does she has gluten-intolerance but she’s ALSO a vegetarian & has diabetes, making it almost impossible to find suitable food options 😩
So what does she do? She turns inward, making Indian and Gujarati food that is often naturally GF and delicious. She does love Asian and Mexican cuisine for eating out given the plethora of rice based dishes.
Anyone out there share these dietary restrictions? If folks have a favorite recipe or grocery store find that you love, we’d love to experiment and find one Nani loves!

For YEARS, Nani’s has been sneaking turmeric into her chai, so we decided to launch this limited edition turmeric chai blend for you as well (especially if you’re like us and don’t love the taste of turmeric 🙄).
With freshly ground organic cardamom, Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, black peppercorns and Assam tea direct from a family farm i India, this is a chai you can feel good about for so many reasons ❤️
Grab it now, and use code SUMMERWELLNESS for free shipping! 😎
Nani’s chai brewing process
1. Grab a silver pot to brew chai in
2. Need a ‘sansi’ (pot holder tool) because there is no handle 🤣
3. Strain it into her mug
While it is certainly not as easy as a tea bag tossed in hot water, who agrees that this is WAY more satisfying? 🙋🏽♀️
Chai, spices, wellness & more. Come visit Nani at this Saturday! She will NOT be having her dinner boxes but she will have all her spices, cooking kits & chutney! Place your chutney PRE-ORDER to reserve your jar.

15 seconds on wellness: Did you know there are four powerhouse spices that can help improve your body’s immunity, inflammation and indigestion? ✨
Turmeric, ginger, black pepper and Ceylon cinnamon (with coconut milk powder for all those good fats) are ground to form our Wellness Concentrate, stemming from a centuries old Indian elixir to promote overall health & wellbeing.

Afternoon tea, Nani style.
Nothing better than chai with samosa's and kachori's. If we could mail this to you, we would!
Four unbelievable (but true!) facts about Nani:
1. She hates baking (!)
2. She hand roasts all her spice blends weekly, and refuses to upgrade to a large scale commercial grinder
3. She is impatient and works at lightening speed. People have to stay clear of the kitchen when she’s in it.
4. She has never tried coffee (why start when you have chai?!)
When a friend sends you their weekend reading 😍
So thrilled to be featured in this month! Nani’s love of authentic Indian flavor and spices shines through and we are thankful to be part of the Charlotte food community. 💕
We are back at the in July and we can’t wait!
If you don't know, now you know.
This is ALWAYS found in Nani's freezer, and makes whipping up an Indian meal 15 minutes easier. A perfect Sunday meal prep / food hack!
When it’s Friday and you don’t know what to make for dinner...any bright ideas with these ingredients are welcome!
We may experiment with Nani’s ‘Shak’ recipe below (aka Gujarati vegetable dish). Mix and match whatever veggies you have on hand with spices for a delicious meal served with roti’s (or warm tortillas if you can’t be bother !).
✨Ingredients:
Option A: 1/2 medium eggplant & 1 1/2 cup frozen peas
Option B: 1/2 cup peas, 1/2 cup cauliflower, 1 small potato
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp dhana jiru
1/4 tsp turmeric
GGC" 1 tsp chopped/ blended ginger/ garlic/ green chillies
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ketchup
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
pinch of sugar
fresh coriander (optional)
Nani Says: Defrost peas, finely chop eggplant/veggies. Heat medium pot on low heat, add oil. Once the oil is warm, add mustard seeds. Let them pop for a minute, then add dhana jiru & turmeric. Stir, add GGC and all the veggies you are using. Add salt, stir & cover pot, cook for 10min, stirring occasionally (add 1-2 tbsp water if sticking to pan). Add garam masala, sugar & ketchup. Stir, turn off heat & let the flavors sit for 5-7 min. Garnish with chopped coriander, serve with roti’s.
Happy Mother’s to those celebrating (and let’s not forget the amazing Nani’s out there as well!) 💕
Nani is currently stuck in India with her mom (great-Nani!) and she sent us a message: “No one's delivering anything, but we always keep beans, rice, lentils in the house–we’re okay.”
Our thoughts are with those in India suffering from this awful pandemic and for those without access to critical food. We will link in our stories great ways to keep on helping.
Nani’s message is also a reminder to us on the power of a few key ingredients paired with spices to make comforting dishes to get through these hard times. One of these, kichri, we will be reposting in our stories and on our new recipe portion of our website!
It’s officially iced chai martini weather 😎 make your own, Nani style:
Ingredients (for 2 servings):
1 tsp chai spice
2 tsp black tea (Nani prefers Assam)
(optional) sweetener
(optional) 1/4 cup milk of your choice
Nani Says: Add 2 cups water, chai spice and tea into a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. If enjoying that day, add milk and bring to a boil again (the double boil creates a richer chai). Add sweetener, then strain, cool and store in fridge. Add to ice before serving.
Omit the milk if you are saving your chai concentrate for another day.
For Chai Martinis, use 1 cup of water instead of 2, which will make a more concentrated brew. Omit the milk, and store in fridge. Just before serving add the dairy and 1 serving of vodka (optional) of your choice. If you have cookies, crush & dip your glass to make a tasty rim 🍸
