My Mom used to admonish my siblings and I all the time about “talking too much” 😬 She’d say, “Don’t talk so much about what you’re going to do, just do it and let the tally tell.” I said that to my son one day when he was very young and he said “What does that even mean?” LOL 😂 For anyone who's thinking the same thing..."tally" simply means to add it all up, or the “sum”. She was in essence saying - “Let the sum of your actions speak for you”. There’s a beautiful song that says “May the Works I’ve Done Speak for Me” that is often appropriately sung at funerals.
