Today, as we mark Trans Day of Remembrance & Resilience, we honor the lives lost to anti-transgender violence and honor those who continue to fight for transgender dignity and equality every day.

As we take the time to recognize the resilience and strength of the transgender community in the face of adversity, we must continue to work toward creating a world in which everyone can live their lives without fear of discrimination or violence – including on college and university campuses.

University of Houston’s LGBTQ+ Students Build New Community After Resource Center Closure 10/30/2023

SB17 in Texas has led to so many challenges for students at colleges and universities, which prohibits campus programs that specifically serve diverse student populations. At University of Houston, that's led to the closure of the campus LGBTQ+ Resource Center. It's been inspiring, then, to see how students have really stepped up to organize, envisioning, creating and funding new resources for LGBTQ+ students on campus. Read more about this inspiring show of resistance, thanks in large part to the GLOBAL UH team:

A college LGBTQ center disappeared. It wasn’t the only one. 10/24/2023

New laws in Florida and Texas are forcing on-campus LGBTQ+ centers to shutter across both states – and in most cases, university officials have been slow to clarify where q***r students can access the support and resources they need to thrive.

USA TODAY has an in-depth look at how these new laws are putting q***r students in the crosshairs of a discriminatory political agenda:

A college LGBTQ center disappeared. It wasn’t the only one. At some colleges and universities in Texas and Florida, LGBTQ resource centers are disappearing. Students and staff are starting to notice.

This week we were at UNC Charlotte for "OctoberTest: It's Good to Know," a student-led HIV/STI awareness campaign. The event included free, confidential HIV/STI testing, a wellness fair featuring local community-based and student organizations, a student activity room with swag and games, and a stigma pledge. Our team at Campus Pride tabled at the event – and Buff Faye hosted a panel on drag artistry. So great to see everyone at this special event.
