This week is National Burn Awareness Week. Here are some tips from the United States Fire Administration.

1. If you burn yourself, run the burn under cold water for 3-5 minutes.
2. Never leave an open flame unattended.
3. Turn pot handles away from the stove’s edge.
4. Have a “kids free” zone of at least 3 feet from the stove.
5. Always have a fire extinguisher near you.
6. Seek medical attention if your burn is larger than your palm or shows signs of infection.
