For this last week of Pride Month we are having a Bitter Bryant as our final cocktail, combining grape fruit and orange juice with our platinum rum, Strega Liquore, and a float of Peychaud’s bitters.

This cocktail is in honor of the Florida Orange Juice Boycott. In 1977 a conservative mouth piece named Anita Bryant who was the brand ambassador of the Florida Citrus Commission, started the "Save Our Children" campaign that wanted to repeal a Miami area law that protected against discrimination based on orientation.

In response, gay bars across the country refused to serve screwdrivers, instead offering Anita Bryant Cocktails, made with vodka and apple juice, and kept it going until Anita was fired in 1980.

Come on by and enjoy our celebration of the determination of the LGBT+ community, and their success in conquering hate.

This week's The Trevor Project Cocktail is the Northampton Gimlet, made with our Conifer Botanical Spirit, Blueberry Syrup, and our House Lime Cordial.

Northampton, Massachusetts is known as the Le***an Capitol of the World, drawing in a large community of women that loved women all the way back in the late 50's with their accepting nature and liberal mindset.

As time went on and the community grew, it became a hot bed of political movements for LGBT+ rights, acting as something as a safe haven and stronghold.

So come on in, and enjoy a refreshing taste of New England, while supporting a good cause!

And of course, Happy Pride Month!

This week's pride cocktail is the Mattachino. A wonderful mix of our coffee rum, raspberry syrup, and pat milk.

This week we were inspired by the Mattachine Society, a social club in New York during the late 60's. At the time, discrimination against homosexuals caused them to regularly be turned away at bat's across the city and state, and to protest this they staged a "Sip In" at the Julius Bar in Greenwich Village, where they filled every seat, announced they were homosexuals, and were immediately refused service.

This, along with other protests and events, helped lead the New York Commission of Human Rights to declare that homosexuals had a right to be served.

Last week's sushi pop up went really well, and we want to thank everyone who came out and showed their support.

Things went so well, that Tauchi has agreed to come every Friday for the rest of the summer to keep serving his amazing sushi! He'll be with us every Friday, and as many Saturdays as he can, with the exception of the 28th. Someone already booked him for a birthday party that week!

Join us in celebrating the LGBT+ community this June! Our weekly cocktail special is dedicated to supporting The Trevor Project, an amazing charity that provides crucial support and counseling for LGBT+ youth. Each week we will take inspiration from a different aspect of history and culture of the LGBT+ community. This week, that influence is Leather.

Whether it was Robert Halford of Judas Priest, or Glen Hughes as the biker in Village People, leather culture has always been an important and celebrated part of gay culture. This week we play sweet off of smokey with sweet and subtle in the Leather and Lace, brining together our smoked rum with almond milk, amaretto, becherovka, and angostura. Come raise and glass and make a difference!

While we aren't quite ready for prime time, we couldn't let Tom Tom pass without making a showing! Today and tomorrow we'll be opening our doors so everyone can get a sneak peak and a boozie slushy, as well as taking over the Bonny and Read C-Ville patio so you can enjoy a beverage outside.

Come by and see us! We'll be running a limited menu, but all our drinks being are $8 to celebrate the occasion!

I'm sure more than a few of you have noticed our old Water Street location has been emptied out.

That's because we have been working to get our new tasting room open, now right on the brick! We'll be right across from Jefferson Theatre, between Charlottesville Insider and Bonny and Read C-Ville.

We'll be opening our doors very soon, offering up dozens of different cocktails, a new boozy milkshake menu, and so much more!

The only downside at the moment is that we will not be able to sell any bottles for a few months as we get all our permits lined up and approved.

We'll be keeping you updated and letting you know more details as they are ready!

Congrats to our tasting room manager and his lovely wife, who have just welcomed their latest child into the world!

To give him some time to be with his family, we will be closing our downtown tasting room for the next few weeks, and taking advantage of this time to get our new tasting room on the mall ready. We'll see all of you in the new year in a new space!
