Happy second birthday to our Tina dog!
Robbie and I had great time last night at the Fluvanna County Fair! (With the nice weather, it felt like the entire County was there.) Thank you to all the volunteers who helped put it together.
Ev and Jessica are away, and Robbie decided we would have a "boys' night" -- so pizza, unwashed dishes in the sink, and a bad 80s action movie!
Today I announced that I will not be seeking re-election to the General Assembly.
I thank the voters who allowed me to represent them in Richmond for the last 22 sessions. I'm also profoundly grateful that my family has allowed me to serve. None of this would have been possible without Jessica's amazing support.
I also appreciate everyone's help in getting bills passed. Time after time during my tenure, constituents shared their ideas with me and came to the Capitol to testify for the bills we came up with. With their hard work, we've been able to pass laws on issues like drunk driving and bullying in schools. These successes would not have been possible without them.
Working in the General Assembly has been an extraordinary honor. Thank you, again.
So sorry to hear that Ken Boyd has passed away. Ken was a loving husband to Brenda, a principled and thoughtful leader in Albemarle, and a trusted source of advice for anyone who needed it. We will all miss him very much. RIP, my friend.

Great article today about former Hoo, Anthony Gill. We met him once in Charlottesville and he couldn't have been nicer to some very young fans.
How does an NBA team build culture? For the Wizards, it starts with the last man. The 30-year-old forward has averaged 9.8 minutes per game during his three-season career in Washington, but he fills an indelible role.
Today was the funeral for Vic Pena. Vic was a retired Army Colonel, a devoted husband to his wife Ilse, and a generous friend to all who knew him. RIP.

Evie visited me at the Capitol, sat in my chair, and chatted with Speaker Gilbert (who has known her since she was a baby). She especially enjoyed me getting roasted for picking U.Va to beat Tech in the recent basketball game: https://www.wdbj7.com/2023/02/11/rivalry-between-hokies-hoos-extends-house-floor/
Today met with a group of U.Va doctors who were at the Capitol to speak in favor of my bill to address threats to medical workers. You can read it here: https://bit.ly/3XfgRQa.

20 years ago today, Robbie was born (at the old Martha Jefferson Hospital). Now he's all grown up and I couldn't be prouder of the man he has become! Happy Birthday, big guy!
Great to see local 4-H kids when they visited the Capitol.
As in the past, I have decorated my office in Richmond with student artwork from schools in our community. Hope you're enjoying Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Today is Tina's "gotcha" day -- the day we brought her home a year ago. She has had 12 months to steal shoes, hog the sofa, and destroy "indestructible" squeaky toys!
So sorry to hear of the death of Delegate Ronnie Campbell. He was a public servant who worked as a State Trooper, County Supervisor, and State Delegate. Please keep his wife Ellen and his family in your prayers.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Virginia State Police Association (VSPA) Emergency Fund. If you would like to do so, note "Ronnie Campbell" in the memo line and send the check to:

Yesterday in Nelson County we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Waltons television show. We were joined by Wendy Hoffman (Earl Hamner's niece) and Reen Christie Bula, who played John-Boy's first girlfriend. Many thanks to hosts Carole Johnson, owner of the John and Olivia's B&B and Richard Roberts, director of the Walton's Mountain Museum.
