James E. Brown, III is the Charlottesville City Sheriff. The Sheriff's Office provides many mandated and non-mandated services to the community.
Our Office is comprised of 9 full-time Deputy Sheriff's, 2 part-time Deputy Sheriff's, and an Executive Assistant. We also have 2 Reserve Deputies that volunteer their time and purchase their own equipment. Although the Office is not open 24 hours/day, we have a minimum of 2 Deputies on stand-by outside of regular business hours to transport mental patients and/or respond for emergencies. In addit
Endangered Missing Juvenile Zaylen Barrack Davis is an endangered missing juvenile from the City of Charlottesville. He was last seen in the area of 1414 Midland Street, Charlottesville, Virginia.
CPD Seeking Assistance in Missing Person Case The Charlottesville Police Department requests your assistance in locating a missing person, Thomas Williams. He was reported missing on June 10, 2024. Thomas is diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome.

This evening (Wednesday, May 22nd) and next Wednesday (May 29th), Texas Roadhouse Restaurant will be hosting "Tip-A-Cop" Fundraisers as Law Enforcement raises money for the Special Olympics. CPD Seeks Assistance Locating Missing Juvenile
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Jazmin Shifflett was reported missing, and last seen on the 100 block of 7th St NE in Charlottesville, VA on 5/7/2024 at 6:00 p.m.
Jazmin is a type-1 diabetic and may be in need of her medication.

Police looking for suspect in homicide Sidney Montcellus Stinnie of Charlottesville is wanted in connection with the shooting death of 31-year-old Deqwane Brown on April 9.
On March 7th, 2024, Andrew Pumphrey, with the town of Gordonsville Police Department, passed away. We met at the Academy and went through Basic Law together. Andy ended up working with the Charlottesville Sheriff's Office for a few years before working in Gordonsville. He will be missed.
