Here’s the current demo schedule for our upcoming 10th Anniversary Woodworking Festival on Saturday, October 5. We’ll likely add a few more demos to the rotation once the rest of our vendor attendees have been confirmed, but we wanted to go ahead and announce these so you can begin planning your visit. Here are the results from two of the classes we held over the weekend! In the Date Night session, the couples each made a plant stand to take home, and in the Parent/Child class, the students made a charcuterie board! We’d like to thank all of these folks for spending part of their holiday weekend with us!

Just a reminder that if you’re planning to compete in our upcoming FESTOOL Footstool Contest, you need to register by end of day this Friday, September 6. NEW CLASS ALERT: We’re excited to announce the first of many new Ladies Day in the Shop classes taught by Annelyse McKenna! Annelyse has spent quite a bit of time working directly with Wayne on various shop projects and assisting with quite a few classes to build her experience and knowledge base. We’re thrilled to welcome her as an official member of our instructor cadre, and we look forward to seeing her share her passion and knowledge with others!
LADIES DAY IN THE SHOP: TURNING A PEN
Description: Join Annelyse for this fun class to learn how to use the lathe to turn your own wooden pens! The class will cover lathe safety and basic terminology along with the pen turning process, so no prior experience is required. Each student will leave with a completed pen to show off to her friends and family! Please Note: This class is intended for ladies only.

Here’s the latest update for our 2024 Turn for Troops contest. Nashville jumped out to a commanding lead but Chattanooga’s responded and closed the gap since the last update. Don’t forget, you have until November 11 at 11:11 to turn in your completed pens. Thank you to everyone who’s participated!

These students just completed the first edition of our new Kitchen Cabinetmaking 201 class! They’ve spent the last three days building on the skills learned in our Kitchen 101 class and practicing new techniques including: making beaded face frame, creating cove molding on the table saw, and installing adjustable shelf track. Next up: dovetailed drawers and divided panel doors. Can’t wait to see the finished cabinets at the end of the week!
Wow! Check out the results of the Bowl Turning 102: Log to Bowl class this past weekend! The students spent two days learning how to safely process their own blanks from logs and then turn them into bowls. Great job, y’all!
After a 5 year hiatus, we’re excited to announce the return of our FESTOOL Footstool Contest! Register today for a chance to win $500 in FESTOOL Cash! All contestants will receive a t-shirt and will keep the stools made in the contest.
Here’s the info:
- Up to two contestants per team (only need to register for one spot per team)
- Two Divisions: Professional and Amateur (We’re defining professional as anyone who’s been paid to make a piece of furniture and/or owns 4+ FESTOOL Tools)
- Registration Fee: $20 per team
- Three hour time limit
- Material: 1 x 12 x 72 piece of pine
- Must only use FESTOOL tools
- We’ll provide the pine board, glue, tools, clamps, and supplies as well as a safety observer/moderator (no input on design allowed).
- The winning team in each division will receive $500 in FESTOOL Cash. Winners will be determined by criteria including number of FESTOOL Tools used, timeliness, amount of waste produced, and average score received from our panel of judges on appearance, structural integrity, and complexity of design.
- We’ll also award a prize to the People’s Choice Winner as determined by our Facebook audience.

And that’s a wrap! We’ve just completed three separate weeklong Kids Summer Camp sessions! Over the last few days, the kids have learned woodworking skills as they’ve crafted a variety of projects, including outdoor side tables, bat houses, bird feeders, pens, keychains, and more!
The students did a fantastic job, and we’d like to give a shout-out to our instructors who worked hard to run the camps! Thank you, Larry, Cheryl, Greg, Annelyse, and Jay for all your work this week!

Hey makers! Register today for the Maker’s Market that we’re hosting as part of our 10th Anniversary Woodworking Festival! The Market will be held in our parking lot on Saturday, October 5, from 10 AM - 4 PM. Set up will begin at 8 AM on Saturday, and we’ll provide a table, two chairs, and space in our tent (or let us know if you’ve got a 10 x 10 tent that you want to bring to set up next to ours). The Market is free to vendors and the public, but we ‘re asking vendors to register by AUGUST 1 so we have plenty of time to advertise your attendance. We’ll reach out to you via email once you’re registered to discuss additional details.

Here’s the results of last week’s Summer Wood Turning Camp! The students did a fantastic job learning how to mix and pour their own epoxy resin blanks and then turned them into pens, keychains, and ornaments. Shout out to them and the instructor, Phil, for doing a great job!
