Luke 2: Mary
One of the things I love most about the birth of the Messiah is the way the Bible portrays Mary. One of the things we don't think about is the fact that Mary knew her son came as the Savior, and eventually He came as a sacrifice. She would outlive her son.
She knew her time with him on this side of heaven wasn't going to be forever. I think about that during this season. She had to live knowing that pain was coming. But what I love is how she did it.
Three times in Luke 2 it says that Mary treasured these things in her heart, or pondered some translations say. How she made it was in her meditation, her pondering, and thinking over all the things she had experienced with her son, the Savior of the world.
I believe that through Mary, God gives a portrait of how to "survive" seasons where we feel the pain of lost, especially seasons like the world finds itself in now. You take in the moments you have, and you store them away in your heart. When the pain comes, these moments flood in.
"Think on those things" as the Apostle Paul commends the people to do in Philippi.
Allow the peace of God to surround your heart and mind in Christ, for he understands.
Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for the things that hit our lives, so allow yourself to experience that time.
You can overcome it too by gleaning encouragement from the mother of the Messiah:
Treasure "these things" in your heart.
Shalom (wholeness), my friends
