Last weekend I spent a few days in Canandaigua NY at a very beautiful cabin with my Godson and his mommy just to get away and celebrate her birthday weekend. I want to say we had a very relaxing weekend and I recommend taking time to sit and relax in a cabin

Women in my HerStory day 7! Today, I am filled with pure reverence for a woman who defied societal expectations and persevered against all odds- my mother, Barbara Molett. As a teen mom in the 70's, she was not expected to make much of her life or have the ability to support and rear two girls. But she did just that, and not only are we doing well, we are college grads, with businesses and families of our own. My sister and I could not be the women we are, nor our daughters the people they are, without the tenacity, perseverance, dedication, commitment, love, care, and concern my mom has given to us. Today, I celebrate my mother and all the women who have defied the odds and paved the way for future generations.

Today, I want to take a moment to appreciate the amazing women in my family and community who have added so much value to my life. It's hard to choose just one, but if I had to, it would be my paternal grandmother, Bertha May Benson.

My grandmother instilled in me a spirit of faith and peace and that faith that has been a constant source of strength throughout my life. I am forever grateful for her guidance and wisdom.
