August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) highlighting the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages. Vaccines are important and can help prevent serious, sometimes deadly, diseases and illnesses. According to the World Health Organization, global immunization efforts have saved an estimated 154 million lives, or the equivalent of 6 lives every minute of every year over the past 50 years.
