Gymnastics
Fun instructors lead your young child through different levels of gymnastics tumbling moves. The program also helps with developing fundamental motor skills and helps young children with learning instructions from a teacher and social skills. Basic tumbling, gymnastic moves & fun games are taught.

Time/Level: Level I Beginners (age 3), 3:00-3:30 p.m.
Level II Advanced Beginners, 3:30-4:00 p.m.
Level III & IV Intermediate, 4:00-4:30 p.m.

Jr. Cardinal’s 1st & 2nd Grade Basketball League
Basketball league for 1st & 2nd graders held here in Cheney. Sportsmanship is stressed along with learning the fundamentals of the sport. Coaches will have 1-2 practices during the weeks of the season, they will contact parents with these dates & times. Fee includes shirt, sign up by deadline to guarantee a shirt. Volunteer coaches are needed. Practices may begin the week of October 28.

Games: Saturdays, December 7-21, January 4-25
Age: 1st & 2nd Graders
Fee: $30.00

WSC Youth Basketball League
3rd-6th Graders sign up to play basketball in the Western Sedgwick County Basketball League! All players will be drafted onto teams by the head coaches, team placement is not guaranteed. Teams will travel to play other teams from Andale, Colwich, Garden Plain, Kingman, Pretty Prairie, St. Mark’s and Conway Springs. Practices begin the week of October 21, and games will be played on Saturdays during December through early February. League tournament will be held after league play in February TBA, normally grade 3/4 is February 1/2 & grades 5/6 will be February 8/9 (tentative dates for tournament currently). Check website for updates as the season nears. Admission is charged at the tournaments to pay for officials/awards, etc. Coaches will contact players regarding practice times & games shortly after the draft is completed. Volunteer coaches are needed for this league! Keep the jersey for years of use. Jersey is a reversible mesh tank top with print on both sides. Please indicate jersey size & 3 desired numbers on form-no guarantees. Write down your current jersey number if you already have one.

Coach Mark Potter Basketball Training
Former Newman University Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Potter will be offering a great basketball training opportunity here in Cheney. It will cover many areas of basketball, shooting, ball-handling, etc. and look to work on each player’s needed areas of improvement. Participants will be in small groups similar in age. 1-hour time slots. If a day/time listed does not work and you have a group interested in a session contact the office as other times/dates may be added. Pay & register with Cheney Recreation Commission. Need 4 participants in a group if possible. Check back on the website for updated information as new sessions are added throughout the year.

Mini Kickers Instructional Soccer
Soccer is a great sport to play for any age. It is a terrific activity to develop footwork and fitness for any future sports. The start of each date will include instructional drills. Then the participants will be divided up and play a mini game with fewer kids on each field. Includes a t-shirt, shirt only guaranteed if signed up by the deadline. Parents encouraged to assist. Age based on October 1. PARENTS: Just show up the day and time of the activity listed below. No set teams or practices other than what is listed below.

Future Cheer Camp
Cheney High School Cheerleading squad will instruct this fun clinic. Participants will receive a T-shirt and wear them at the performance. Indicate shirt size on the form, sign up by the deadline to ensure a shirt. Participants will meet 3 times for practice and then perform at halftime of the varsity football game Friday, October 11. Participants get in free at the pass gate.

Tae Kwon Do
Black belt Paul Frank of Kim’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do is holding classes in Cheney for all ages. Individual or sign up the whole family for this great fitness activity. Youth Soccer League
Play one of the most popular sports in the world. Soccer is a great activity that involves teamwork, physical fitness, and fun! Practices will be during the weekday evenings 1-2 times/week, coaches will contact you on dates/times after the coaches meeting. Games are on Saturday mornings at the Bus Barn Fields. Short rules version: Shin guards are required, equal playing time, ball out on sidelines=throw-in, defense kicks the ball past end line=corner kick, offense kicks the ball past the end line=goalie kick. Age based as of October 1. Practices begin the week of August 26. Indicate shirt Size. Volunteer coaches needed please indicate on the registration form!
