The Elephant and the Bus

Loved making this custom order sign recently for a friend to give as a baby shower gift! Children are a gift from God, created and designed with a purpose. Such a blessing for me to make this sign for a special little girl as she soon enters the world!

Throughout our seasons of life, we are making decisions (big ones, little ones, and everything in between), working on relationships or even just trying to find authentic ones, slaying our “giants” while battling or overcoming negative thoughts, or maybe going through a valley.

As I reflect on the peaks and valleys of my life, the one thing that has been pure, given me peace, shown me grace/mercy, and has been unwavering is the wisdom from above.

Let’s be encouraged that we can experience hope and restoration with the wisdom from above. How can we be more honest and vulnerable with God so that we can receive His wisdom?

Faith… this word appears in the Bible 336 times in the KJV, 378 times in the NASB, 389 times in the NKJV, and 458 times in the NIV. There are enough references to read one every day of the year.

In Hebrews 11:1 (NIV), it says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

The rest of Hebrews 11 goes on to tell us about “faith in action” through a long list of heroes of faith. These are men and women, like Noah, Abraham, and Sarah, who are models and examples to us of what authentic faith looks like.

One of the definitions in the Merriam Webster dictionary defines faith as “complete trust.” So let’s give ourselves to Christ with confidence because we have complete trust in God’s promises.

As I reflect on this sign and the wonderful truth in this word, I ask myself, “Is there an area of my life where I need this trust in God, this faith, as the firm foundation to persevere and endure?” How about you?

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”

Last weekend during a time of fellowship with some ladies, one of them warmly and lovingly said something that I know, but in the busyness of life need to be reminded of. “Our home and our children are our first ministry.” So true! And as I prepare to add 30+ signs to our Etsy shop this week this was the first of my new sign designs that I made!..

God has great plans for our children and He wants us to release our arrows (our children), to make an impact on our world with the love of Christ. Their lives are in our hands to shape and direct in our homes for approximately eighteen years. So as I continue in a busy season of raising four arrows, I remind myself that God’s timing for me to intervene and parent is not in my perfect timing however there’s no more important job than helping form someone’s soul. I can’t do it alone though and I’m so grateful that God is with me on this journey that He has called me to.
