Applications are now being accepted for the Junior Volunteer Program at CHKD.

Junior Volunteer Program | Volunteer Services | CHKD Each year, teenagers who turn 15 on or before June 1 and are still in high school can apply to participate in the Summer Junior Volunteer Program. Forms for new applicants are available annually on March 1.

The new CHKD Children’s Pavilion was dedicated today and is set to open on October 11th. We are proud to be part of an amazing journey in the development of Virginia’s first and only pediatric mental health hospital💚

Today was collection day for the CHKD Thrift Stores. Thank you to everyone who contributed in collecting items!

Many times when we think of the needs for CHKD we think of the babies, but we have a lot of older kids that need our assistance as well. The Child Life Department within the hospital is looking for some teen items right now: nail polish, hair brushes, wide tooth combs, UNO decks, journals, cute pens & headphones. If you would like to make a donation, we can help collect them and get them to the right hands within the hospital.

Over the weekend some of our members toured The King's Daughter's Milk Bank that supplies milk to countless hospitals up and down the east coast. If you want to learn more about becoming a donor to the milk bank call 757-668-MILK and help improve the health of a baby who was born premature or critically ill. Thank you to The King's Daughters for CHKD for having this amazing facility and for allowing us to tour it and learn more.

Membership Monday-- Did you know The King's Daughters started in 1896 with 5 Circles? Today, 123 years later there are 44 Adult Circles throughout Hampton Roads. 8 Junior Circles (teenagers) are an addition. Circles are groups of volunteers (women and men) from all walks of life/ stories who volunteer to support CHKD.

This past fiscal year, they volunteered 49,000 hours through fundraisers or what we like to call “friend raisers”, making surgery bears, blankets, knitted hats, development hearts, purchasing items requested by department and SO much more. The King’s Daughters are the voice of CHKD & are committed to the well-being of the children in our community.
