06/12/22 - 4:55 PM UPDATE: The Boil Water Advisory has been lifted. All samples have passed.

Customers on Highway 21 in Fort Lawn in the Maple Street, Edwards Road, and Robinhood Road are affected by this morning's water main break are under a Boil Water Advisory.
Under a Boil Water Advisory, customers are encouraged to boil water vigorously for one (1) minute prior to using for drinking or cooking. This is only a precaution until we receive passing bacteriological sampling results. We will update when results are received.
UPDATE #2: Repairs are complete and pressure is returning to the system. Customers may experience cloudy water as service is restored. This happens due to air trapped in the lines. If you experience this, flush your lines using COLD water from your bathtub and call our office to report the issue.

About CMD
The Chester Metropolitan District is a Special Purpose District created by the SC legislature in 1963, and serves as the public water supply authority in Chester County. CMD distributes water along SC Highway 9, SC Rt. 99, the US 21 corridor, and to the municipalities of Chester, Fort Lawn, Great Falls, and Richburg.
Surface Water Treatment Plant
The system is supplied by a 7.2 million gallon per day (MGD) surface water treatment plant located on the Catawba River at Fort Lawn on the eastern side of the county. The treatment plant is currently operating at approximately 42% of capacity (3.012 mgd) for average day conditions. However, peak day conditions have approached 60% of plant capacity, with a maximum-day flow of 4.014 MGD being pumped.
