Really appreciate Dr. Kern having our KHP program be involved in this project! Looking forward to diving in and helping move this forward and implementing it's use in our classes.

UW’s Kern Leads US and Wyoming Physical Education Database Project While reading, writing and math skills among school-age children are closely monitored, students’ access to health-promoting physical activity and physical education is less documented, resulting in a lack of credible evidence that young people are learning the lifelong benefits of staying healthy...

Chalking this story up to lifelong learning.....
Discussing in CPR class about when to call 911......what if you are alone, how do you direct, etc. Make the statement "if you have your phone you can say 'Hey Siri, call 911'" we continue our discussion, as my class begins to hear a phone ringing...we are looking around the classroom.....and then it dawns on us....umm, I just called 911. I answered the phone, put it on speaker, apologized profusely BUT then, best part, the dispatcher shared with my class that if you say "Hey Siri, call the hospital; your phone will call 911" Thanked her for the information and her understanding and ended the call.
To be honest, was a little embarrassed about the accidental call to 911 BUT so appreciated how the dispatcher and my class handled it.

Spent yesterday observing Scuba Access For Everyone (SAFE). This is a wonderful non-profit that trains dive buddies and advanced dive buddies. Once trained they assist people with disabilities in being active through SCUBA diving......
Coolest thing I observed an individual with ALS who entered the water and swam with little assistance. She was a diver before ALS altered her life and with SAFE she continues to enjoy this passion....
Best example of a non profit I've seen....everyone volunteers, there is no payroll for anyone......
