Thank you to Cheyenne Board of REALTORS for organizing an army to provide such a visible presence in school zones all across Cheyenne.

It was fun to see how excited kids are on their first day. They are laser focused on getting to the playground; they deserve to get there safely.

Thanks to the energetic Sarah Compton of Wyoming Congressional Award for giving out 👍 and 👎 to all the drivers. (We brought our own turtle prop as a reminder to slow down). Thanks to all the folks at 9th and Deming for being such good sports as kids were on their way to Cole Elementary.

Happy first day of school! Slow down, pay attention and make sure our kids get to and from school safely!

We have several more shifts that need to be filled, so if you have not signed up, or only signed up for one morning or one afternoon, could you take a look at the list and see if you can squeeze one more volunteer shift into your day on August 26th? We really appreciate the community's help on this important project. Cheyenne is amazing!

Is anyone available to sign up for any of these shifts on August 26th? All we need is some volunteers to stand at these intersections and hold a sign reminding drivers to sow down and watch for kids. It only takes about 30-40 minutes. Please sign up at the link below!

It has been a long journey to this point. Something that should have been done long ago.
We thank the many individuals who have worked tirelessly on these projects and those who have showed up and supported us through our events by sponsoring, donating, participating, and volunteering. So many people involved in “Mak-ing a difference” in our community.
One with a sustainable change and hopefully will help drivers as well as pedestrians.
Protect our kids by driving distraction free and slowing down in school zones. They depend on us to look out for them.
This project and the one on Pershing and McCann might be a small inconvenience for some of you for a short period of time but please remember to exercise caution and patience and know that these improvements are priceless.
My prayer and my mission is that no one else will ever know what the true cost of this light was for Mak, me, my family and our friends.
Take time to think of the value.
Cost and value are very different things.
A life is priceless. Mak is so very missed.

Western Hills Boulevard will be closed at Moccasin Avenue starting this week for installation of a HAWK crossing signal. The new signal upgrades an existing crossing and will allow for protected pedestrian and bicycle crossings between Moccasin and McCormick Junior High School.

Drivers should be mindful of the closure and plan alternate routes. Detours will be posted while the closure is in effect. The work is expected to be complete this week before the first day of school!

Heads up!

Shifts in lane closures on Pershing Boulevard at McCann Avenue will occur this week as crews begin installation of a new HAWK signal at the intersection (near Jimmy Johns and Dutch Bros).

While one lane of traffic in each direction will be open, the lanes will shift later this evening (Aug. 13) to accommodate work on the north side of the intersection Wednesday morning. On Thursday, traffic lanes will shift again so work can take place on the south side of the intersection.

Lane closures will remain in effect until the signal poles are mounted. McCann will also be closed at times at Pershing, with nearby streets as alternate routes.

(If you're wondering what a HAWK signal is, it's a traffic signal that stops traffic to allow pedestrians and bicycles to cross the street. This signal will upgrade an existing pedestrian crossing at Pershing/McCann, making it safer to cross Pershing, especially for Baggs Elementary School students. Another HAWK signal will be installed next week near McCormick Junior High).
