I’m a Mother to a developmentally delayed young adult.
My children are my life. My daughter, who has been in and out of hospitals, treatment facilities and other providers for most of her teen years, has proven to be a pure delight most of the time. However, she is also one of the state’s most difficult cases. As a result, we were denied by many providers, and the ones that had accepted her had turned out to be not so well equipped for her.
We would be given a 30-day notice to quit or had to pull her out of services. As a mother, this was difficult, I know what she is capable of. Resulting from this, I had decided to become a provider, so I can offer the services I wanted available for my daughter.
If providers just threw up their hands and say, “I quit”, who suffers most? The ones that need us the most, OUR LOVED ONES.
I have made it my mission to promote independence as well as provide a fun and safe environment, geared to the needs of the individuals I would have the honor to support.
