Come down to the Depot to see the Dia de los Mu***os Artist Exhibition, on view until November 8! The exhibition features artists Esther Gonzales, Juan Laden, Miranda Unwin, and Mary Whalen.
This interesting tool is a track lifter tong and was donated by Ron Jurgenson last year. It was found near Sherman.

Sherman in a 1869 photo by Wm H. Jackson. In his 1877 book, The Pacific Tourist, Henry T. Williams described the weather at Sherman: . . .there is a constant breeze, that most Eastern people would pronounce a gale.
Cheyenne 1921. Waseda University baseball team captain and first baseman S. Takamatsu is shown here in a brief stop at the Depot. The team arrived in San Francisco on April 29 and departed from Seattle on July 14. Thanks to RJ Lara, Curator at the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, for sharing the image!
Photo from September 1937 shows the installation of a 100-foot subway tunnel and butterfly-style train sheds. These improvements greatly increased passenger safety and comfort. (Ehernberger Collection)

A great image from the UC&N! The water tanks along the route were crucial to the operation of steam locomotives. A steam engine could only travel a limited number of miles before needing a refill.
This special tour features the Golden Spike Monument, a 43'-tall golden spike, as it travels from the artist's studio in Kentucky to its installation site in Brigham City, Utah. Switch engines are used within train yards to move around cars. This switcher is an ALCO-built S-2, 1 of 19 such locomotives assigned to the Wyoming Division in 1945. The paint scheme indicates that this photo was taken between 1956 and 1959. (UPRM)
In the 1940s small locomotives were still fired by hand. Fortunately for firemen, larger locomotives usually had augers that would automatically feed coal into the firebox. (UPRM)

1888 - fireman Ernest Heenam with engine No. 721, built by Brooks Locomotive Works in Dunkirk, NY in 1886 and retired in 1901. After serving with the UP, the locomotive was sold to F.M. Hicks, a dealer of used railroad equipment in Chicago. (Ehernberger Collection)

In the late 1920s the Warren Emporium was torn down and replaced with this Spanish Colonial style building. This was the new Colorado & Southern/Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Depot, which later doubled as a bus depot. It was demolished in 1956. (Wyoming State Archives)
Due to the anticipated inclement weather in tomorrow’s forecast, we will be moving our last Fridays on the Plaza concert featuring Jalan Crossland and Mason Mctell to the Cheyenne Civic Center. The concert will still be open to the public and free of admission; however, it will be limited to the first 1400 people. Mason Mctell will open at 6:oo pm, and Jalan will take the stage at 7:30 pm. At the Grover Depot in Grover, CO: A live reading of the classic ghost story, "The Affair at Grover Station" by Willa Cather, read by Colorado historian Nicholas Bernhard. The story takes place in Grover at the depot (built in 1887 as part of the CB & Q line from Sterling, CO to Cheyenne) and also in Cheyenne as the agent is trying to get there for a party.
