Join us this Saturday at 3pm for Honoring Our Veterans! Read on to see what director Dr. Francis Cook has to say about a few of the pieces you’ll hear at the concert.
William D. Pardus, Fanfare for Patriots presented by the Cheyenne Brass Band- This was originally composed as an entry in the Dallas Wind Symphony's "fanfare competition." The work is scored for traditional brass choir: an orchestra section (3 trumpets, 4 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, and tuba) with timpani. The work has a "contemporary feel" by mixing traditional harmonies with quartal writing, as well as some occasional changing meters.
John Williams, March from "1941" presented by the LCCC Wind Ensemble-This up-tempo and memorable march was a main theme in the Steven Spielberg comedy film 1941, starring John Belushi as "Wild Bill Kelso." The result is a zanily patriotic march that move you to tap your feet to the humorous, playful rhythms.
