We Are JANE.org
We Are JANE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women with the costs of abortion care. Welcome Jane. Jane is an ally. That can go away very quickly.
All pregnant people are now potential felons again instead of human beings who need healthcare. The medical profession is now run by legislatures that are elected every 4 years. We are: Students, Mothers, Workers, Sexual assault victims, women who have common pregnancy complications, partners and parents to all of the above, medical professionals, and friends. On May 31, 2009, Dr. George Tiller, an
activist for abortion rights, was acting as an usher during Sunday morning service at his church in Wichita when he was fatally shot in the head by an anti-abortion extremist.
"Trust women," he used to remark. "I'm a woman-educated physician," was another of his phrases. His favorite mantra was "attitude is everything".
"If you look at the history of abortion in the U.S. before Roe v. Wade, and what's going on now, one thing that is clear, as with everything else in the U.S., class and race plays a massive part. People with resources will get to where they need to go. BIPOC will be the ones that suffer."
There are so many reasons people decide that pregnancy is not for them. It's so personal. Quality healthcare should be accessible for everyone and not just those with money.
THANK YOU DR. TILLER FOR TRUSTING WOMEN. WE MISS YOU AND REMEMBER ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE AND TAUGHT US. WE WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE.
Racial Justice is Reproductive Justice.
And if you are unfortunate to be trapped in a state where you thought you had rights when you born there, or took that job, or bought that property, and payed your taxes you would be wrong.
in these states, and watch your backs in the others. Gaining rights takes hundreds of years. Losing them takes one bone headed Supreme Court of the United States decision and of course, the former Republican MAGA president who is proud of creating this suffering, where an actual living babies introduction to this life is to suffocate for 99 minutes and die. That's today's Florida. That is the Ron DeSantis way, and the way of all of these state legislators.

Make stupid laws, get inhumane prizes.
At 27 weeks the Dorbert's were told their fetus had Potters Syndrome and would not live much longer than 20 minutes after birth. The laws of the state denied an abortion due to the ridiculous lie that is the Florida fetal "heartbeat" law, a cut off at 15 weeks. This legislature and governor is currently lowering that to 6 weeks.
Deborah Dorbert was forced to carry the fetus, which they named Milo to term and watch him suffocate for almost 99 minutes.
Her father told the Washington Post:
"Rogell lingered at the funeral home after others left, staring at the urn that contained his 16th grandchild’s ashes and trying to reconcile his own misgivings about elective abortion with the months of suffering he watched his daughter and her family endure.
Now, he was haunted by the sound of Milo gasping for air and the sight of his body struggling to ward off a death that had been inevitable for three long months.
“To me it’s just pure torture,” Rogell said. “The law has created torture.”
To add insult to injury, because that's what inhumane, terrible laws always do.
"The mail brings reminders of the Dorberts’ new financial burdens, invoices for all the things they wish had never happened: $12,320 so far in medical costs — not including induction and delivery, $7,000 for Milo’s cremation and funeral, and $500 for the keepsakes in memory of their son.
The bills keep coming. Deborah estimates that Lee’s health insurance will pick up about half of the medical costs, some of which will be offset by a GoFundMe appeal that one of her sisters set up."
The short life of Baby Milo Milo Evan Dorbert, whose mother’s pregnancy tested the interpretation of Florida’s new abortion law, was born with a fatal abnormality. He lived 99 minutes.

Read it. Weep for a few seconds and then stay mad and keep informed on who is being oppressed in your states and others. Criminalizing abortion in any state criminalizes Health care for those born with a uterus everywhere in the country.
The consequences of these cruel decisions spill over on all of us. It will just get worse. We know what happened last time, and that injustice and misery led to Roe v Wade. Now today in some states in the US, we can't access advances in medicine the did not exist 50 years ago. That's crazy.
Anti abortion state legislators, governors, judges and District Attorneys better check themselves, they were not elected by landslides.
Meanwhile real people are suffering unecessarily because of this extreme governmental overreach into our private lives.
Happy Jewish Heritage Month! PPIL stands in solidarity with Jewish Americans against hate and anti-Semitism, and is committed to ensuring access to reproductive health care for the Jewish community. We honor all of our Jewish staff members, patients, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we can stand against bigotry and fight for bodily autonomy.
"Avery Olson has a choice to make.
She could practice women’s health care as an OB-GYN in her home state of South Dakota, where it is illegal to perform abortions and where the exception to perform one to protect the life of the mother is unclear to some physicians, or she could practice in a nearby state, one where abortions are legal and she can practice to her full ability while still staying close to her family."
South Dakota has a women’s health care shortage. The abortion ban may worsen it, physicians say. South Dakota is facing a shortage of OB-GYNs and is a leading state for maternity care deserts.
One step forward in Michigan, two steps back in the Carolina's and they want to bring Virginia into their new theocracy .
It is hard to believe this is happening in our country.
I wonder what group the Republican body and brain police will come for next?
"In Michigan, one of the leading states in protecting abortion rights since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Wednesday that will prohibit companies from firing or otherwise retaliating against workers for having an abortion.
The legislation amends the state’s civil rights law, which had previously only outlawed employment discrimination if an abortion was to “save the life of the mother.” It will ensure that workers cannot be treated differently for receiving an abortion regardless of reasoning."
Spread of abortion restrictions in South puts pressure on Virginia As more Southern states pass new restrictions on abortion, Virginia is poised to become an outlier in the region for its relatively permissive laws. That could set up Virginia as a destination for women seeking abortions and raise questions about providers’ capacity to meet demand. South Carolina ...
Anything would be finer than to be in the Carolina's in 2023. 😡
Taking away a citizens right to be left alone, and their basic right to privacy is excessive government interference. Abortion and Maternity are normal human behaviors.
It is cruel to take away our ability to make our own decisions about our own futures, our families, making stressful situations worse, causing misery, maternity related physical conditions, heartache, uncertainty and women's financial independence for one religious sects beliefs. Religious beliefs that that defy logic, medical knowledge, and common sense to anyone that doesn't want to live in a theocracy.
What kind of legislatures do that to their own citizens, and still tax them? Well, North and South Carolina this time. A terrible thing to do to their citizens.
"As North Carolina (Republican) legislators enacted the ban Tuesday, (overiding the elected Dem. Governor), the South Carolina House of Representatives was in the midst of an hours long debate on a 6-week abortion ban bill after Democratic lawmakers said they filed over 1,000 amendments to it."
North Carolina’s GOP-led General Assembly overrides Democratic governor’s 12-week abortion ban veto | KRDO By Shania Shelton and Dianne Gallagher, CNN (CNN) — North Carolina’s Republican-led General Assembly moved Tuesday to ban most abortions after 12 weeks, voting to override a veto from Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper. The state House voted 72-48 along party lines hours after the state Senate voted 30-...

The former president, the antiabortion extremist state legislators, and the Supreme Court seem to have forgotten that after 50 years of fighting against the human rights of the persons that possess a uterus, we are not the same voiceless oppressed majority we were before 1973.
Those people were too busy raising kids they couldn't reliably plan for, and working 2 jobs to feed, clothe and raise them to be independent, productive citizens.
Remember this guy, the deceased, drug addled radio preacher of ugliness that the former impeached and criminal ex president who takes full credit for Dobbs, admired so much? Remember when this was tolerated?
If you don't remember being viewed as a s*x object, a breeder or a "slut" to use Rush Limbaughs words, these same people, who gave us zero respect as humans are making these laws. That is all. The path to Gilead is paved with people who have no decency or humanity.
"A feminazi is a woman to whom the most important thing in life is seeing to it that as many abortions as possible are performed. Their unspoken reasoning is quite simple. Abortion is the single greatest avenue for militant women to exercise their quest for power and advance their belief that men aren't necessary."
On this Mother's Day, we honor motherhood in all its forms and give thanks for mothers of all kinds! (And if you choose not to be a mother, we see you too!) Happy Mother's Day!
What kind of a ghoulish request is this? Vote this one out if you can Idaho.
"A federal judge denied Idaho Attorney General Raoul Labrador's request to reconsider the order barring the state from prosecuting emergency room physicians for providing abortion care to stabilize a patient."
Judge won’t reconsider order protecting Idaho ER doctors from abortion prosecutions - Idaho Capital Sun U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill denied Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador’s request to reconsider barring the state from prosecuting ER doctors for providing abortion in an emergency.
"All five of the abortion-related bills aimed at softening the state’s abortion ban were scheduled on the annual “Pro-Life Day at the Capitol.” (All five bills either failed to get out of committee or were deferred.) Buses filled with anti-abortion activists arrived in Baton Rouge for the day, and in the capitol’s rotunda, Louisiana Right to Life served “Everyone Deserves a Birthday” Cake to visitors and legislators.
So while some survivors were sharing their personal trauma, literally weeping and asking that legislators not force future survivors to be constantly retraumatized, anti-abortion activists were telling r**e survivors that holding their rapist’s baby could be “ther**eutic”—and quite literally eating cake." “Instead of trusting us to make our own decisions about our bodies and lives, Montana lawmakers are once again forcing their way into our exam rooms and blocking our access to essential health care,” said Martha Fuller, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana.
“By adding unnecessary and burdensome red tape to a safe and legal medical procedure, these politicians have made clear that it was never about our health and safety,” Fuller said in a statement Wednesday. “It was always about undermining our personal freedom and shaming people who seek abortions.”

TRUMP: President Trump is going to make a determination what he thinks is great for the country and what's fair for the country.
But the fact that I was able to terminate Roe v. Wade, after 50 years of trying -- they worked for 50 years. I've never seen anything like it. They worked -- and I was even -- I was so honored to have done it.
We are in a very good negotiating position right now, only because of what I was able to do.

The evidence is overwhelming: Americans support reproductive freedom.
But anti-abortion activists and politicians are trying to ban the abortion pill mifepristone, hoping right-wing judges in the federal court system will revoke the FDA’s 23-year-old approval for the medication in spite of hundreds of studies documenting its safety and effectiveness.
Despite those efforts, mifepristone remains available for now, which is what 66% of Americans want, according to a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News.
