Lumbar Isolated Cat/Camel!

For anybody whose spines are feeling some type of way after Test Day 1, check out this variation of cat-camel that specially isolates the lumbar spine.

Setup notes:
1. Start in regular quadruped position
2. Drop down to your elbows
3. Shift forward… Hips over knees
4. Try + keep movement from the waistband to the belly button!

Our programs meet YOU where YOU are! The best part about offering multiple programs is that it allows our clients to start where they are. - Have you been out of the gym during Covid? - Are you recovering from an injury? - Haven’t strength trained in a while? When Carly joined us in late 2021 she was recovering from an injury + had little experience strength training. Variation in your lifting TOOLS is just as important as variation in your MOVEMENT patterns. Working with a specific bar might make more sense based on the TUT (time under tension) or INTENSITY GOAL for that specific training phase. It's all smiles when your hips are rotating! Captured from our accessory STRENGTH sets in this week's STR A workout. The standing rig hip axial is a great way for our athletes to learn how rotate their femurs WITHOUT compensation from the low back or a shifting pelvis. Being able to rotate INTERNALLY + EXTERNALLY at the hip is key to healthy DEADLIFTS + SQUATS. Mobility can be FUN! + so worth while. #HipsLikeShakira #HipsDontLie

In all of our STRENGTH programs you will find that there is always an element of STRUCTURAL BALANCE or MOBILITY included. WHY? It's imperative that a program incorporates movements that support the FULL health of a joint by building balanced strength in all angles. Here is Catie demonstrating a band external rotation off the rack (flawlessly if we do say so 😉), a structural balance move from this phase's Strength B program. The Band external rotation is a move that helps stabilize the shoulder joint after a heavy session of horizontal pressing movements. Sustainability + healthy joints = more time in the gym.
