We love visiting our clients and planning special activities to bring to their homes! Our Client Services Director, Erica, brought paint and canvases because she knew Shirley is interested in art. Erica, Shirley, Cynthia (her caregiver) and even her daughter joined in on the fun! Everyone put their own touch on their canvases and they turned out beautiful!

Not only would we like to wish Ray a very happy birthday but we'd also like to acknowledge his caregiver, Lisa, for going above and beyond on his birthday! Lisa made Ray all his favorite foods including a root beer float and a homemade birthday cake for his special day. Lisa, we are so grateful for all that you do for our clients.

As the holiday season comes to an end, we wanted to take the time to say how grateful we are for our team, the clients we serve and the community partners that share our goal of helping the senior population. We are looking forward to the new year and continuing to elevate the human spirit just as our Client Services Director, Erica, is seen doing here. We wish you all a happy and healthy new year!

Meet our Director of Business Development and HR!

Prior to joining Comfort Keepers, Jaspreet was an attorney and had a career in nonprofit management at Feeding America. Jaspreet has her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Law degree from North Carolina Central University.

Jaspreet joined Comfort Keepers in 2016 and in her role she directs new business development and HR (recruiting, training and developing our care team). She's passionate about providing the best care for seniors in her community and looks for meaningful relationships with peers, clients and caregivers alike! Jaspreet is married to Itay Shalev and has two sons, Avi and Jai.

Meet the Owner and General Manager of Comfort Keepers Chicago!

Itay's passion for eldercare developed as a young man. During his summer vacations Itay spent months caring for his elderly uncle; preparing meals, escorting him on walks, and providing companionship that helped him feel connected and valued.

As a psychology student Itay participated in clinical work that helped to connect under-served seniors with community resources. After seeing the growing need for reliable and trustworthy care, he decided to invest his energy into providing long term solutions for seniors and persons with disabilities, assuring they could remain comfortable and independent in their own homes. In 2010 Itay opened Comfort Keepers Chicago and joined a network of over 700 home care offices serving the senior population.

As an owner, Itay understands that each client’s unique situation requires customized and flexible solutions. He is directly involved in every step of the process, from initial client assessments to on-going supervisory visits. Itay is a Juris Doctor and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Romance languages from the University of North Carolina.

Itay is fluent in Italian, Hebrew, and knows his way around the Hindi language. Itay is a proud father of two, Avi and Jai. In his free time he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and sons, volunteering at his local food bank, cooking delicious Mediterranean foods, and playing tennis.

Meet our Client Services Director! Erica joined the Comfort Keepers team in May. Prior to starting with our team, Erica worked with the senior population in an assisted living setting for the last decade. The past seven years she has worked as a Memory Care Director. She stated, "Working with people living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia has truly changed her life."

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, collecting screenplays, writing, and kayaking. She also loves spending time with her dog, Blarney Killarney, who comes with her to now visit our clients!

Erica is a huge advocate for helping people thrive no matter the circumstances. She loves working with families and their loved ones to provide the best quality of care. The mission statement of Comfort Keepers is something she truly believes, and she is delighted to continue to elevate the human spirit!

Another great pet therapy visit with our client, Phyllis! Our Client Services Director, Erica, started bringing her dog, Blarney, to visit our clients. For the past three years, Blarney has been visiting seniors in an assisted living and memory care building. Blarney loves to spread joy and meet new people. As you can see, Phyllis really looks forward to monthly visits from her friends!

Meet Nicole!

Nicole is the Scheduling Manager here at Comfort Keepers Chicago! Born and raised in Chicago, Nicole worked as a retail manager for 18 years. While employed at Gap Inc., she discovered a passion for Operations and Human Resources. Aside from her trio of cats, Nicole has a love of fashion, plants, sewing, and video games. During her time with Comfort Keeper’s, Nicole has loved putting her well-honed scheduling skills to good use and observing the impact a single person can have on the life of another.

Today also happens to be her birthday! Nicole, we hope you have a fantastic day and celebrate with all the things you love. We are so lucky to have you on our team!

Another fun visit from our newest Comfort Keepers volunteers, Jai and Avi! Our client, Ray, loves to stay active so Jai brought a balloon to play balloon volleyball with him. They had a great time playing the game and talking together. We cannot wait to do more intergenerational visits with clients!

The Comfort Keepers owners, Itay and Jaspreet, truly love to get to know the clients we assist on a personal level. They have two sons that recently asked if there was anything they could do to help bring joy into the lives of our clients. Here is a picture of Itay and his son, Avi, going out on their first visit together! Our clients loved the visits so much that both children plan on doing more visits when they have time off from school as well as starting a pen pal club.

Meet Comfort Keepers Newest Member: Blarney

Our Client Services Director, Erica, has started introducing pet visits to our clients. Her dog, Blarney Killarney, has already been on multiple visits since Erica started with Comfort Keepers in May. Just like Erica, Blarney loves to spread joy and meet new people!

Before Erica started in her role here, she worked with residents living with dementia. The past three years, Blarney has accompanied her to work and provided so much happiness to her residents. She may look like a big dog but trust us when we say she is 70 pounds of pure love.

Blarney is a rescue dog that Erica adopted when she was three months old. When she is not visiting the elderly, she enjoys going on long walks, playing with her toys and spending time with her dog brother, Charles.

We look forward to all the visits to come!

We got to hang out with the most adorable kids at our Annual Summer Social.

We had the pleasure of hosting our caregivers and their families for our Annual Summer Social. The Chicago River Walk was the perfect setting.

1. Discover what makes you joyful :Celebrate this day by looking into yourself. Discover the things that bring that warm smile to your face. Then find a way to hold onto it.

2. Give yourself a reason to smile. Everything might not be going well with you recently. We remind you to look deep and find a purely beautiful or joyous moment.

3. Be a source of joy. Today is also a good day to be the reason for someone's happiness. How fulfilling would it feel to have someone smile just because of you?
