Mentorship & Workforce Development

To wrap up our celebration week, we end our week highlighting our Discovering Healthcare Careers Program. Our students spend 6-weeks learning about the unlimited possibilities in healthcare through shadowing, speaker sessions, certificate trainings, and team building activities. Students were able to make a variety of connections with students, professionals, and staff. Congrats to 48 students who completed our program! 🥳

Today, we highlight One Summer Chicago students! We had students interning at our hospital in various departments assisting them with various roles & tasks. Our students completed 6-weeks for a total of 120 hours at our hospital learning from a variety of professionals in their departments. Congratulations students! 🥳

This month has been filled with celebrations. Today, we are highlighting our Community Health in Action Mentorship Program (CHAMP). Our undergraduate & graduate students spent 6-weeks being exposed to a variety of Public Health opportunities through our 6 Pillars . Along with exposure our students also spent their time researching a health issue in a Chicago neighborhood. Congrats to our CHAMPs students! 🥳

Week 5 of DHC was a week of service and creativity! 🎨 Our students gave back by helping Cradles to Crayons, making blankets with the Salvation Army, learning about music and art therapy, and competing in mock interviews judged by our Medix team. 💼

Week 4 of DHC is in the books, and we can’t believe Week 5 is just around the corner! 🎉 Our students enjoyed a special visit from the CEO, an ice cream social, wrap-up mentoring groups, and insightful talks from various healthcare professionals. 🌟

Week 3 of DHC was a blast! 🚀 Students bonded through team-building, got certified in CPR, explored sim labs with our kidSTAR team, enjoyed story time with Dr. Glusman, dived into EDI and how to incorporate it into their careers and learned from a vast of speakers on various careers. Learning has never been this fun! 🌟

Week 2 of DHC was a hit! 🎉 Our students learned from incredible speakers on topics ranging from pulmonary care and elevator pitches to mental health, college life, hospital generalist roles, and cardiopulmonary health. Thanks for another fantastic week! 🌟
